  • Turned Gran Turismo into a real driving simulator
Style: T248 Playstation | PC
I bought this over a week ago with the intention to introduce my Brazilian wife to driving a real car. I have have a PS5 but still have the PS4 vr and I took the plunge and invested in the T248. Looking at the range of pricing of different add on steering wheels, I thought the T248 would be a good start. It is amazing. I also got the DIWANGUS Racing Wheel Stand Foldable Steering Wheel Stand with Collapsible Tilt-Adjustable Racing Stand and with the VR headset it feels like I'm inside the car. The pedals also feel real as they are steel and sturdy. The only downside is the spongy brake pedal, but the black spring makes the pedal feel firm. I have seen reviewers on here criticize the steering wheel is slow, but it feels very real as it would in a real car. The feedback is awesome. The leather steering wheel feels real, although it's a little small comparable to the sports cars that I've driven in real life I will most likely upgrade and get the add on gear shifter, PSvr2, and Gran Turismo 7. I played Gran Turismo for many years with the motion sensing controllers, and quite honestly, after using this steering wheel I'll never play another drive simulator without one 👍🏾 ... show more

  • Great wheel for ATS/ETS simulator
Style: T248 Playstation | PC
This is a great wheel once you learn the features and have an understanding of how they can enhance your gameplay. A bit of a learning curve getting used to the various settings. This is one of the better gaming wheels out there. I have always trusted Thurstmaster to consider a player's needs. Still not really clear on what the E-1 to E-4 settings are for, but have viewed some videos and they apparently work with racing games. More information on that would be helpful. The wheel gives you a realistic feel when driving with superb feedback. The wheel is a little small but it works well. ... show more

  • Great wheel/pedals, super loud shift paddles.
Style: T248 Xbox | PC
Overall it’s a great wheel / pedals. The paddle shifters click VERY loudly though.

  • Addicting!!!
Style: T248 Xbox | PC
At first I regretted buying it. The default settings for Horizon 5 were abysmal. It made every car undrivable. I went to sleep thinking it was all a mistake, but after some quick research the next day, I changed the settings within the game and wow!!! What a difference! The force feedback on this wheel is quite something. It truly needs to be experienced to understand how immersive it makes racing games feel. It feels very accurate to whatever terrain you're driving on and to whatever objects I'm hitting or crashing into. However, if you are about to hit a car head on, you will feel it before it happens (millisecond) which is a little strange The feedback also changes depending on the vehicle I'm driving. The LCD display on the wheel can be customized to display whatever you like. I prefer RPMs which will blink when it is time to shift. I find this to be the most useful reading for racing about. The paddle shifters are necessary for emersion. They have a nice tactile click that some reviewers complain as loud. I have the surround sound blasting, so the entire experience is already loud. I don't mind it. The shifts are fast and precise. The pedals feel nice and have an appropriate amount of feedback and response to pressure. The brake pedal seems a little on the stiff side, but you get used to it. I do believe the spring in the brake pedal can be changed. If you're thinking about buying this, do it. This completely changes the experience of racing games for me. I can ever go back to a controller ever again. ... show more

  • Calibration Chaos
Style: T248 Playstation | PC
The media could not be loaded. After fewer than 30 hours of play, my T248 exhibited the random twitching behavior at startup depicted in the video posted with this review. This behavior indicates that the unit cannot not auto-calibrate as it should do every time the unit is powered on. If the unit cannot auto-calibrate, then it will not be recognized by the console or PC. The reason it cannot auto-calibrate is due to motor failure. This is problem is actually quite common with Thrustmaster wheels across all of their models, not just the T248. If you simply Google “thrustmaster calibration problem,” you will find many other complaints in forums and among consumer reviews describing a variation of the same auto-calibration failure behavior, some with short video clips just like mine. A disproportionate number of those complaints seem to regard the T300RS/GT. But many complaints regard other models from the bottom to the top of the TM product line, including the high-end T-GT II. If this, or any problem, occurs within the warranty period of 1-yr (US), Thrustmaster will duly replace/repair the unit. Outside the warranty period, they will offer to have it repaired by their authorized servicer for a flat rate of $70 plus a return shipping fee of $30, not to mention the cost of sending it to their repair center. I will also note that the only way to contact Thrustmaster to handle such cases is through the technical support page on their website. Their phone line is impossible to reach -- open only two hours per day, just four days per week. I did discover a way to calibrate my wheel by hand so that it would be recognized by my console and PC, but since the motor is dead, the wheel only functions as a steering device with no force-feedback (FFB) effects whatsoever other than random weak attempts of the motor to engage the drive system. Bottom line: Thrustmaster’s flawed belt or hybrid drive design will eventually suffer a motor failure, the only question is whether it will happen before or after the warranty expires. As a footnote, although I only used this T248 fewer than 30 hours, it was out of warranty. It was a wheel I had set up on a secondary rig and used infrequently. The wheel on my primary rig is a Fanatec ClubSport DD. Thrustmaster doesn’t even begin to compare to the superior direct-drive design of Fanatac in terms of performance and reliability. ... show more
