As impossible as it seems, this brilliant book allows its reader to manipulate scientific concepts like light, sound, time, and space. It provides teachers, parents, grandparents, librarians, children and unaccompanied adults the opportunity to play and learn without pain. Each person who makes up a secret code, or creates kaleidoscopic art using the spirograph, or figures out which day birthdays will be three years hence, or projects accurate constellations onto the ceiling, cannot help but be entranced! The book's vivid colors are beautiful. The paper pop-ups are sturdy. And, the reader is treated to concise explanations matching these ingenious inventions. It is a great buy for active thinkers, though it requires a smartphone or a flashlight, plus pens and blank paper, to fully enjoy all of the contraptions within. This "doing" book is perfect for use in independent learning centers, or for grandparents to share with grandchildren, or as a teaching tool in science or design classrooms. It is an irresistible treat for all ages. ... show more

  • My nephew loves this book
Bought it for my nephew birthday, it is super cool, it's more than a book it turns into several other things. I've never seen a book like this before, educational and super fun *he is age 10

  • Not as expected
I purchased this book believing it was a cool interactive pop-up book about space. I was incorrect. This book has multiple different paper cut pop ups that vary from a Spirograph to a speaker. It’s not about space-or planets-or really anything I wanted. I should have sent this book back-my two kids 9 and 11 haven’t even looked at this book-it’s just been my husband and sometimes I. I do however appreciate the paper crafting cleverness that was involved in creating each of these pages-that is all. ... show more

  • Great present...
I gave this book to a young girl and was told it was her favorite Christmas present. It was the only present she got that she spent the day mesmerized by it. She takes it everywhere.

  • Ingenious
I didn't think this would be as fun as it is, but the book is a very cute gift idea and adult my recipient loved it. She even took the time to perfect the planetarium viewer for best resolution with her cell phone flashlight. The spirograph is the second favorite page. We had used pizza boxes as speakers before, and this speaker isn't as ingenious, but still fun as is the decoder and calendar. Not quite as excited about the instrument, but still a good page in the book. All in all, a great interactive present that doesn't just sit on the shelf. ... show more

  • The perfect gift for any child (and some adults)
So much fun! This interactive book is now my go-to gift for kids or friends with kids. The pages are pretty sturdy so it will hold up to toddler messes and active hands, and the wow factor is definitely there.

  • So fun
This was a huge hit with my 6-year-old. He loves the speaker and planetarium pages and it works really well. I purchased a used copy and was worried it may be a little worn. Luckily, to my surprise it was in pristine condition and had no tears, missing pieces, or damage. We love interactive learning books like this and I would recommend it for a kid that has an interest in how things work and is a bit older so the book is not destroyed. ... show more
