  • This one comes up a little short... and narrow...
First the good. This bag, like all Think Tank products I've owned, is extremely well made; quality materials, quality construction, all of that, so it's generally far better than most the bags available today. It will be at least as durable, if not more so, than the competition's offering and other Think Tank items I currently own. Unfortunately, it is NOT as well thought out as those other Think Tank items. Allow me to explain by way of example: Prior to owning this bag, I used a Pentax K3-II with a Sigma 150-500 rig, and carried it in a Think Tank Digital Holster 50 version 2.0; it was a near perfect combination. The bag was just wide enough for the camera and lens hood to fit properly (even with my padded shoulder strap and Black Rapid clip attachment connected to the tripod collar), long enough for the camera attached to the lens to slide ride it with the zippered bottom pop-out popped out, and then even perfect again when I had my Sigma 70-200 2.8 attached, with the pop-out bottom popped IN. Everything slid in, fit just right and slit out easily, no shoving or tugging, no muss or fuss, even with the somtimes-grippy Lens Coat protective neoprene covers on all of the lens/hood combos. I LOVE that bag so much that I still haven't sold it, even though I have NO use for it. I'd give that bag 20 stars, it's that good. Moving up to the Nikon D500 and Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens this past January (2020), however, and much to my disappointment, the Digital 50 was just too dang small for my new rig, so I needed to step up to something larger; enter the Brand NEW Digital Holster 150. This bag was just becoming available when I made my new rig purchase, so I pre-ordered it ASAP. Now comes the bad news. The construction is nearly identical to the Digital 50, this bag is touted, loudly, by Think Tank, to be large enough fit the D500/Sigma 150-600 SPORT lens (which is considerably LARGER in length and width than my 150-600 Contemporary), but I can't see how that lens would ever fit in here, as this bag is a little snug even for my smaller 150-600 Contemporary rig. Everything I use BARELY fits, and then ONLY if I rotate the tripod collar 45 degrees, so it slips into a corner. In fact, the overall fit is snug enough, all around AND front to back, that unless I slip a plastic bag over the end of my lens to make everything "slip" a little easier, it regularly wrinkles and rolls the Lens Coat neoprene cover on the lens hood. How a lens 10mm wider and 1.2 inches longer than mine would EVER fit in this bag is a mystery to me; my rig will NOT fit in the bag lengthwise if I were to attach a teleconverter, end of story. While I can (kind of) live with the snug fit and chalk-up the neoprene cover interference to, "Well that just me", the length of this bag is not so easily dismissed. The Digital 50, as I mentioned, features a zippered, pop-out section that is beyond cool and PERFECT for making the bag the go-to choice whether I had my longer, 150-500 telephoto or my shorter, 70-200 lens attached. This bag, however, features NO zippered pop-out and, despite the absence of this most excellent, and as I see it, necessary feature, it somehow costs $20 dollars MORE than the Digital 50. Accordingly, if I attach my Sigma 70-200 Sport lens... no joy, the width is OK, but now bag's too long. Bigger insult: the padding at the very bottom of the Digital 50 feels thicker and superior to the Digital 150 at the business end. As snug as the length is, this is a real PROBLEM; I've actually added padding to mine from an old Sigma lens case. Bottom line: The overall size of the bag is just NOT enough to justify the price difference without the zippered pop-out. I'm sorry Think Tank, but this is a total swing and a miss for my money. So, yeah, 4 stars for general quality, construction and durability. It's USA made, which is another important feature to me, too. But... they skimped on the zippered pop-out bottom? WHY?? They killed the coolest feature on the whole bag... for THIS price? This makes NO sense; they knew they needed it on the previous model and nothing has changed; they STILL need it! What's Version 2.0 going to cost? (Because, hey, let's be real, we all know that THAT'S comin' sooner or later) $20 more than this? Bad show, Think Tank. This bag WILL do the job, don't get me wrong, but a few years later and $20 more, it is NOT as well thought through as the previous model; either that, or somebody let the bean-counters sit in on the design meeting with veto power and THAT is ALWAYS a mistake. man, it's SO annoying when something gets THIS close to perfection, only to be ruined by some really dumb short-sightedness, it you'll pardon the pun. 4 stars. So close. ... show more

  • Think Tank DH-150 fits Nikon D850 w/Battery Grip & 200-500 Lens
Think Tank Digital Holster 150 fits Nikon D850 with MB-D18 battery grip and 200-500 lens. Original lens hood for 200-500 must be in the reversed storage position to use. However, works fine with after-market 39mm metal lens hood. The side pocket can only store a flat item such as a lens filter case or memory cards. There's also a couple of straps on the side to carry a travel tripod if needed. The bag/strap weighs a pound & half, along with camera/battery grip/lens, it's about 10 Ibs.+. There isn't any support inside the holster for the camera body, so the entire weight of the camera/lens combo is on the lens, hopefully, that is not a problem. The rain cover is a tight fit. The holster itself appears to be well made, with decent hardware for the strap. The holster is 15.5 inches long and is a big boy to carry around, however, it does allow you to take the camera out in the ready position to take pictures, which is reason for purchase. Rated 4 stars for lack of camera support and unknown durability, otherwise, 5 stars. Assume this should last, as Think Tank has a good reputation. ... show more

  • Great Solution! A+ All Around
Rarely get enthused over camera storage but this item is an exception. When I was looking for a way to store, carry and quickly access my "birding camera" set-up, this Think Tank Holster 150 came up in a search. Being new, there were no reviews so the decision to purchase was made based on the company's reputation and pictures provided. As far as quality, this item easily meets the Think Tank brand's reputation. It's well made, well designed and has a zipper that I have confidence in (becoming a rare commodity). I can speak only for my "birding" set-up (Canon 7D II with motor drive and Sigma 150-600mm C with tripod collar and bracket) but it is absolutely perfect for that rig. I expect no different for similar rigs (or the Sport version of the same lens). There is storage for a 1.4x converter and...a really cool feature...storage for filters as well. The 95mm polarizer (not cheap!!!) stores and importantly is well protected. The company claims that the holder will hold up to 105mm filters - which I believe. When birding, attempting to quickly access a camera can lead to frustration and missed shots. This holster does its part to help solve that. The rest is on the photographer :-) After several sub-par attempts to securely store and carry this rig, this holster was a welcome find. I view it as a cheap insurance policy to help protect expensive equipment. ... show more

  • well made
I bought Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 150 so I could carry my A7 Riii with my Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS Super Telephoto Zoom Lens attached. It fits perfectly. The pockets are nice for carrying small items and there is even a rain bonnet that is tucked into one of the side pockets that can be pulled over the top of the case to provide some protection if you get caught in the rain (oddly enough, this feature is not mentioned in the product description. There is a pocket for a filter which is big enough to hold one filter. Oddly enough, there is room for one more filter pocket, but they did not add one, which is unfortunate. But overall the bag is well designed and well constructed. The shoulder strap has sturdy looking metal fittings on it. ... show more

  • Fits my A7RIV with 200-600mm lens
I bought this holster to carry my A7RIV with the 200-600mm lens attached. This combination fits well. I can also fit the A7RIV with the 200-600 and the 1.4 teleconverter attached, but it just barely fits. If this was an extra inch tall it would be perfect. I also have my Kirk Lens Foot attached and that braces the lens in the holster so it doesn't flop around. It has some outside pockets that I use to store my lens harness. Its a very good solution to carry a long lens and camera. ... show more
