Description

THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! Starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews Publishers Weekly Library Journal Named a “Must-Read” by TODAY, Us Weekly, Bustle, BuzzFeed, Goodreads, Entertainment Weekly, Publishers Weekly, Southern Living, Book Riot, Woman’s Day, The Toronto Star, and more! For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime—maybe even love—in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies. Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion...she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas. Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo. Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is...Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be. With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love. Read more

  • Light and wonderful
I've had this on my to be read shelf for forever. As a librarian I saw it have its popularity when it came out and thought it sounded interesting then. Flash to a long time later and the sequel came out on audible and as I was reading the description I remembered this book. While reading the description of the sequel did give me some spoilers I didn't mind at all. The book flowed along at a good pace. There were times that Ethan sounded like a dbag but you could tell something was simmering under the surface between him and Olive, even if it was just sexual tension. This was my first book by these authors. I was pretty impressed and will read others. Would recommend to anyone who like contemporary rom coms. ... show more

  • What a Great Beach Read!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Spice: 🔥 I read this book in one sitting and absolutely loved it! It was such a fun, easy read with engaging characters and great pacing. The plot was predictable, but the way that Ethan and Olive were written, made me enjoy it immensely despite that fact. Ans smile for almost the whole book at their banter. Ethan is the grumpy brother of Olive’s twin sister Ami’s fiancé, and they have never seemed to get along. But when disaster strikes at Ami’s wedding, Olive and Ethan must go on Ami’s honeymoon together or let it go to waste. Once they get to beautiful Hawaii, they learn more about each other and suddenly the pretend honeymoon starts to feel real. I loved the enemies to lovers trope in this, and combined with fake dating and a gruff hero who isn’t good with his words, this was the literal trifecta of perfect tropes. I also have never read a book where I related more to the main female character, so Olive is on my list of favorites! (And my husband is basically Ethan, down to the math-related job and fear of buffets 😂) This one was less spicy than I usually read, but I didn’t find myself disappointed by that. I enjoyed reading Ethan and Olive’s love story too much to miss the spice. If you love beachy fun reads that are low angst and fast-paced, then you are definitely going to love this one! ... show more

  • Funny, Witty, Utterly Charming!
This isn't the type of book I usually read, but as part of the Kindle Unlimited reading challenge I needed to read a book from the preferred list. I am so committed to earning every bookmark in this 3 month challenge I actually purchased this title as nothing else in the list caught my attention. This book was charmingly written, laugh out loud funny in spots and a fun read. A large extended family, identical twins who experience the ultimate horror on the wedding day of one of them. Food poisoning and a non refundable Hawaiian honeymoon. Ami insists her twin go to Maui in her place and naturally the groom insists his brother do the same. But Olive and Ethan aren't exactly the best of friends. It's obvious that they are going to end up together, but what outrageous fun and misadventures they have getting there. Enjoyable and Entertaining, delightfully charming and romantic as well. A minor quibble, being of a certain age some of the language was a bit offensive for me. I realize that's just how people speak these days and I guess that I've turned into an old fogey, but still I enjoyed the story, skipped over the profanity and concentrated on the funny entertaining parts. 🙂 ... show more

  • So cute but a slow start!
Took me quite a bit to get into this book but I loved it once I did. If the start moved a bit quicker I think I would’ve given this a 5! Loved Ethan so much!

  • Funny, witty, romantic, addicting.
I am writing this review at 1 am because I actually could not put this book down. It has been hands down my favorite read of all time (in the romance genre, gotta stay true to Lord of the Rings). It is hilarious and steamy and romantic and so juicy and good. It’s not your average romance novel it has so many layers and it’s impossible to not become completely engrossed in it. I read it in 3 sittings because I couldn’t put it down. So. Good. I can finally sleep now that I have finished it. On to the next Christina Lauren book!!! ... show more

  • A fun summer book
This book was sweet, incredibly funny and a perfect summer read. I have to admit, at the beginning, I didn't know how these two characters were going to work, but they definitely did. Their banter was supreme. Thank you Christine for this beautiful, binge worthy book. It's a summer read that should be on every romance reader's shelf. ... show more
