I bought these out of desperation from breastfeeding my son. I’m a first time mom and I didn’t really know what to expect from exclusively breastfeeding my baby. It was day 3 of postpartum and my son is just a super hungry with a very strong suction. I had the nipple butter but it didn’t help with the soreness and I noticed a blood blister/bump causing me major pain. I was told the silver nursing cups were more preventative and extra care but I started wearing them every time my son wasn’t feeding and not only did the blood blister go away but breastfeeding became more tolerable and I didn’t feel myself dreading his initial latch. I just had my first baby a week ago. She’s a hungry one and I soon was struggling in a major way from getting her to latch deeply enough. My breasts were soon bleeding and insanely sore. I was starting to wonder if I was going to have to use formula for a while which I did not want to do. So I had no idea what these really were but my lactation consultant recommended them. Honestly, they saved me at the beginning when my nipples were bleeding and constantly in pain at the beginning. I don’t know about silver actually having healing powers but the important thing is that they kept my nipples from touching anything, mainly my bras. This helped keep whatever ointment I had put on my nipples from getting anywhere and any cloth from rubbing on them. They’re super easy to wash and didn’t get smelly. I ordered these 2 days after my daughter was born and received them on day 3. By then, I could barely hold her because my chest hurt so bad. These were recommended by my midwives and I couldn't have been happier with them. They suggested I express breastmilk into them and put them back on and allow the breastmilk to help heal the fissures. I only used breastmilk and these shields and by week 3, I was fully established with BF and stopped using them by week 4. They made me feel indestructible and were never further than arms length away for the first month. I literally only took them off to nurse and shower. Would make a great gift. I love these so much. I only wish I had known about them sooner. With my past three nursing experiences I have had terrible with cracked, bleeding, and painful nipples. The most pain I’ve ever felt, even more than childbirth, has been the first few weeks of nursing my newborns. I discovered these after my sister used them and I decided to give them a try with my forth baby. I started using them immediately after coming home from the hospital (probably would have even used them at the hospital if I had thought about it), and a few weeks in and my nursing experience has been nearly pain free. No cracked or bleeding nipples! It’s amazing! Even when I was in the hospital after giving birth, my nipples started to get chapped and even started to crack but as soon as I started wearing these, within 12 hours, my nipples had healed.
