  • Wave the wand and the light goes on - Wave it again, and it turns off!
  • Using the plastic key that was included in the wand tray, insert key into the bottom of the wand and rotate counter-clockwise to remove battery cap.
  • Insert 2 AAA batteries (not included) with the '+' sides facing into the wand and the '+' sides facing the battery cap for both batteries. Both batteries are facing the same direction.
  • Once the batteries are properly installed, replace the battery cap by rotating the cap in a clockwise direction by hand. You will need to use the key to tighten the cap until snug. Be careful not to overtighten or strip the key slot
  • Light on Wand is activated and deactivated with a quick flick of the wrist or a tap on a surface
  • Once the light is on, press and hold down the button to increase or decrease light intensity. If the light does not dim or illuminate when pressing the button, release and try again. Be sure to hold the button down. Once you reach the desired setting, release the button. The wand will remember the setting you leave it at whenever you turn it off and back on again. This can be adjusted at any time by repeating the process

A birthday present for my 9 year old granddaughter. She was absolutely thrilled. The wand has enough detail on it that it isn't just a plastic stick. It is true that it is very sensitive. A slight flick turns it on and another flick turns it off. I showed her how to use the very small key to disengage the batteries when not in use. So far, we put batteries in it in June and now it is August and have not had to replace the batteries. She doesn't play with it everyday, but often enough and for long periods of time. She loves that by pushing the small leaf you can make the tip of the wand grow brighter. The case is very nice and substantial. She loves the picture of Hermione on the front. ... show more

We purchased this as a prop for a Halloween costume. However, I wish we had purchased it prior to our trip to Universal. Although they are interactive, the wands at the park cost over $75, which is a lot! These are much most reasonably priced, but they are not as interactive as the wands in the park. They do light up though, which is really cool! ... show more

    • It is crazy how happy I made my eight year old with this wand.
My daughter gives this wand 10 stars out of a possible five. She loves it and, at that basic standard, it was a great purchase. From my perspective, it is a decent toy. The light function starts and stops a little too easily... a less sensitive trigger would probably work better. It is also a little longer than I think ideal (about 14.5 inches). The plastic molding is acceptable, but not as good as higher end "collector model" versions. But, these are quibbles at the edges of a decently made toy that has given my daughter - and I suspect any Harry Potter fan of her age group - great joy. There have been few purchases I've been so pleased with in the past year, based solely on how much happiness this gift brought her. ... show more

If you love Harry Potter franchise then this is for you. Best looking wand out of all other wands. Very realistic. Not heavy. Put batteries and tip of the wand glows and it looks more like wand in the movies. My 8 year old loves it.

Yes that's correct, I'm 22 years old and I bought this toy for myself ;) I've always been a huge fan and I grew-up with the characters, but I'm usually only ever extremely nerdy in my own house. This toy is wonderfully fun, I bought it, believe it or not, because I'm aways waking up in the middle of the night to get a drink or use the bathroom, and I thought this would be much sweeter than a flashlight or a night light. It is larger than the collectable wands, and much less in quality than them too, but that's because this is a toy. It's larger because two batteries need to fit in there, and quite obviously made of plastic.I can't stress this enough to those negative reviewers, you're paying for the Harry Potter name, the price is not going to go down. I'm an avid collector, and yes it's as much as the collectable wands even though I myself would consider it less of a collectable and more of a toy, but it's also ten times more fun since it really does light up with just a flick of the wrist, and off again in the same manner, which is better than any other light-up wand you'll find out there. My conclusion: If your'e willing to spend the dough, this really will be worth it, you or your child will go bonkers for it. To you it may look too fake, but to your kid, they are a real wizard! How big of a price tag can you put on that kind of joy? By far the most fun thing I've added to my collection of HP items. And I plan to use it constantly. ... show more
