    • A well laid out path to magickal adepthood
I've studied a decent amount of NLP, chaos Magick, hermetix philosophy and other various magickal works. I decided to get serious this year. Began working through Bardon's Initiation Into Hermetics which opened doors in my life that I didn't even know were there. But life got so busy I couldn't do the lengthy exercises. I was led by synchronicity to this book by Jason Newcomb and decided to buy it. It's content has been perfect for me in my unique path and I'm having a lot of fun working through the exercises. I can already feel the transformative power in my life and the awakening of my true potential. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to start working with Magick. Everything is clearly stated, no fluff or fillers just information and practical work. I especially love the way he combines the different sciences of NLP, psychology and ancient hermeticism into a coherent and congruent working system that makes sense logically. He even prepares the student by insisting that they cultivate a healthy skepticism towards his work and anything else in life. The healthy skepticism not being a bias towards doubt but a sense of inquiry and open mindedness. To make it interesting I guess I got a copy that had a printing error and the entire book was upside down compared to the cover so I had to read it from the back upside down. Which is not a big deal. It's just like reading it normally just can bring confusing with the cover being like it is.     • A great system of magick
This is a fantastic, self-contained system of magick, for any individual who is interested in self-improvement. If you're able to have an open mind and follow the lessons, you'll get a lot more out of this than other books on the market.

    • Great launching pad
Overall a great basic text. The writing is a little repetitive and pedantic at times but I appreciate the way the author has stripped down and streamlined everything down to the nuts and bolts (sorry for the mixed metaphors). I wish I has started with this book years ago.

    • this is the perfect place to begin
If you interested in Hermetic philosophy and magick, this is the perfect place to begin. The writing is clear, concise and tailored to the contemporary audience. Past Hermetic writings, such as those regarding the Order of the Golden Dawn can be so esoteric and dense that it can be nearly impossible to figure out a plan of training and usage for the material. The author is also rather insightful about such important things as visualization and meditation so that you are not just stuck in a ceremonial ritualistic mindset but able to see how Hermetic teachings can help in your everyday life. ... show more

    • This book changed my life.
I use this book very much. My wife first bought this book and we used it together in our study of New Hermetics. After a while I noticed that every time I turned around she was using the book when I needed it. Therefore I bought another one so that we could study it simultaneously. Great idea. I study this book from cover to cover and am on my 5th time of reading it. It is very thorough in teaching a system that works. Jason Newcomb shows the similarities of the worlds religions and magical systems that seem to work and brings them together. In this book what really works is kept and when you work on that in your life it works. This is white magick to the core. Great stuff you have to get this book. I have now bought the book for two of my sons who are also reading it. ... show more

    • Essential information
This is a very good book. A generic approach to magic that simplifies all of the aspects of magical technique that you need to know to get started on the Western Mystery Tradition path. Less mumbo-jumbo, more practical application. I recommend that you also go to the author's website and download the meditations and exercises that go with the book, as it is much easier to sit and listen to the instructions than to read them. His relaxation induction method is very good, and if it does nothing else it is a great way to learn how to de-stress. Highly recommended. ... show more
