  • Photos don't do this justice. It's the size of an encyclopedia; because it is.
Maybe the fact it is styled off of an NES cartridge caused me to guess it was on the smaller side but I wasn't prepared for what was delivered. The box it came in was big enough to house a laptop and it weighed several kilos and inside, pristinely packaged safely, was the most gorgeously bound book I have ever owned. From cover to cover, even the gilded edges of each page, the book is gold upon gold; it is a treasure to behold. Every square inch of it's exterior surface is gilded and brilliant. The sleeve is made of a similar material as an actual NES cartridge and I have little doubt it will protect the corners and cover of the book for many years. Something tells me it's not something many people are going to keep filed away in a bookcase though. This book begs to be shown as a centerpiece. Inside, the book is well bound and constructed in a similar fashion as an encyclopedia. It's binding is robust and I don't expect it to show much wear even with heavy use. Even the edges of each page are pristine and cleanly cut with no lines or uneven edges as sometimes happens in modern print books. In short, the book is perfect in every way. Once you get past the cover and start judging the book, it's broken up into several sections including historical, and a database of characters and items. The book even has an instruction manual on the outside of the box, in the same giant sized scale, but familiar shape of an NES game manual. It helpfully advises not to immerse in liquid, or store next to any pots which may be shattered. The art work is top notch and pays homage to the beautiful artwork of the early NES instruction manuals. Half of the fun of owning The Legend of Zelda on the NES was looking at the manual and the maps. In my pre-adolescent mind, the instructions artwork showed me how the game was actually supposed to look, rather than how the limitations of the system could display it. Using my imagination as I played the game, the blocky stand ins for mount doom, became craggy mountain peaks and the overworld became a fantasy theme park cover ocean, sea, and air. This book is like an NES manual, taken to fantastic lengths, and penned with the most fantastical artwork and writing that any gamer could ask for. Well worth the $35. Buy these while you can because I can see these only increasing in value for many years to come. ... show more

  • Great quality
The book came in great condition. It was for my stepson and it was a perfect gift for him. He loves the layout and thickness of the book. The quality of the book is amazing and if your child is interested in Zelda anything this is by far a winner.

  • Awesome for Zelda Fans!
I got this for my boyfriend for his birthday along with Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch. He loves Zelda games and hadn't played that one yet. I figured this book would just collect dust on the shelf. I was so wrong. He has been reading it since he opened it! Since he started Breath of the Wild and dragging around this encyclopedia.. I barely see him. He even used this book to tranlate "Zelda" language (for lack of a better term) by zooming in on various signs and stuff in the game using a key in the book. It's full of information.. he keeps showing me Link's backstory and evolution of looks over the years. I always buy books as gifts because I'm a reader.. he really isn't so I was pleasantly shocked he is so into this book. He actually bought the other ones available the Art and Artifacts and Hyrule History ones which I considered buying but settled on this one. Im glad because he enthusiasticly flipped through the art one and barely gave the history one a full flip through. So I picked the right one. The others of course are nice to have though. If you are on the fence.. get this one. The only complaint is he wishes there was more info on this Breath of the Wild. It is listed but there is not much in there on that specific edition.. but it doesn't stop him at all. Don't let that hold you back... It makes a really nice gift. I finally picked out a book he actually likes! ... show more

  • Doo-doo-doo-doooooo!
Who doesn't love Zelda? This is part of a trilogy of books that gets into the art and mythology of TLOZ. Like it's brethren, it's extremely well made and deeply researched. It's such a treat to dive into.
