Over 1 Million Copies Sold! Don't miss the New York Times and USA Today bestseller and addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that’s burning up Instagram and TikTok--Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity. Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband. I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of… Read more

  • “The Housemaid” by Freida McFadden: A Book So Gripping, It Pulled Me Away from Netflix!
I recently devoured “The Housemaid” by Freida McFadden, and let me tell you, it was impossible to put down! From the very first page, I was hooked. Despite my hectic schedule, I finished it in just two days because I was so engrossed in the story. The plot is incredibly gripping and filled with suspense, keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Freida McFadden masterfully blends humor with thrilling suspense, making the reading experience both intense and enjoyable. The characters are well-developed, and the twists and turns are unpredictable, keeping me guessing until the very end. If you’re looking for a book that will keep you thinking and entertained, I highly recommend “The Housemaid” It’s a fantastic read for anyone who loves a good thriller with a touch of humor. This book even got me off Netflix and social media apps because I was so engaged. I truly enjoyed it! ... show more

  • Never disappointed
As always, Ms. McFadden is right on point with her delivery. A tight storyline, pages that glide by like skating on ice as well as strong, well crafted characters make for the epitome of a psychological thriller that grabs you from the very start and won't let you go. Small wonder it's being made into a highly anticipated film. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! Definitely read this book!
I decided to read this book for a couple of reasons. The first, was because of the tons of reviews and the second, was because I had just finished a book that I struggled to finish. This book was an extremely fast read and I loved how the author writes her story and characters. From the very start, I found it captivating and hard to put down. It’s definitely a book I would recommend! ... show more

  • Great Book
I liked this book. It is probably one of the better thrillers/mysteries I've read recently, and I did finish it quite fast. The writing style is extremely readable, but don't expect imagery and beautiful language -- this book is very plot-based from start to finish. In the middle, some aspects got a bit repetitive but I guess we needed to have some understanding of Nina, Andrew, and Millie. The book itself also veers off into a bit of romance towards the middle, if you're into that sort of thing this would be a great read, but if not it may get a bit boring. The twists, however, are quite strong. We get a few clues, although I would say that in this book they're actually less subtle than the second one. Definitely didn't expect the ending. For anyone planning on going into this book, you need to know that it's a thriller first, everything else second. The character development is mediocre, especially with Millie (imho), which is why I don't think I could give it any more than 5 stars. Overall, solid, I understand the hype and it's worth the read. **spoilers** I didn't really understand all that was going on with Nina's daughter, Cecelia. The whole idea of her being allergic to peanut butter and overall being a brat didn't work that well plotwise, unless she was just meant to be an annoying character all around. I know in Nina's pov she talked about Cecelia always having to be perfect for Andrew, still there was some confusion I had while reading. If someone could clear that up for me that'd be great. ... show more

This book was amazing I could not put it down. I thought I knew the plot twist, but I was completely wrong. Definitely kept me engaged and a very unexpected storyline. LOVED IT!

  • What an engrossing book!!
First that I've read of Freida McFadden, and I'm hooked! I read it partly due to the movie being made, and also several ladies in my book club have raved about her books. Suspenseful, a little twisty, some good laughs, and a great ending to tie it up nicely. I'm promptly starting the second book! My one critique is that there were a few (minor) inconsistencies that I feel like her editor should've easily caught. They don't mess with the storyline, but I'm rounding up from 4.5 stars. ... show more

  • Excellent read
Very good plot, interesting and plausible. I read this book I borrowed from the library and an older friend who wanted books in large print was looking for a good read, so I bought her this. She enjoyed it as well and has recommended it to others.
