  • Cheesy 80's sci-fi at it's best
I remember watching this on VHS, it was wonderfully corny then as it was to watch now. The one thing I love about watching these older silly slasher/sci-fi films is that you never know (unless you remember) who may have gotten their start doing them. Jennifer Anniston in Leprechaun and for Critters, we have one guy who was later in Band of Brothers and Leo DiCaprio. Who had every bit of attitude way back! ... show more

  • Get Ready for a Critter-ific Adventure with The Critters Collection
If you're a fan of cheesy B-movies with a touch of horror and comedy, then The Critters Collection is a must-have for your Blu-ray collection. This set contains all four films from the Critters franchise, which follows a group of small, furry aliens that are always hungry for human flesh. The first film, released in 1986, follows the Brown family as they are terrorized by the Critters in their farmhouse. The second film, released in 1988, sees the Critters causing havoc in a small town during Easter. The third film, released in 1991, takes place on a space station where the Critters are being studied. And the fourth film, released in 1992, follows the Critters as they invade a city. The special effects in these films are definitely dated, but that's part of their charm. The Critters themselves are cute and cuddly-looking, but don't let that fool you - they are vicious little creatures with razor-sharp teeth and an insatiable appetite. The Blu-ray transfer is top-notch, with crisp and clear visuals that really showcase the detail of the practical effects. The audio is also excellent, with a 5.1 surround sound mix that really immerses you in the action. In addition to the four films, this set also includes some great special features, including audio commentaries, featurettes, and interviews with the cast and crew. It's clear that the people behind this collection are fans of the franchise and have put a lot of care and attention into this release. Overall, if you're a fan of cult classics or just looking for a fun and entertaining movie night, The Critters Collection is a great choice. It's cheesy, it's fun, and it's a blast to watch. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Great "B" Sci-Fi Horror Fun; Well Half of It Anyway
If you're thinking about purchasing Critters, I'm assuming you are already familiar with the series. As someone who grew up with the series as a kid as I'm sure lots of people browsing this page have the same background, it's great to see this series get the Blu-Ray treatment. 1 & 2 are the main event here and the new transfer is great compared to the other versions of the film I've seen out there (I own the digital versions through Amazon Video as well). I've not yet viewed the documentaries included with the movies but I hear that Scott Grimes is falsely advertised as being featured in them and is not present, a minor gripe but one worth mentioning here in the review (I'd like to have heard his thoughts on the experience). If you happen to be unfamiliar with the general perceived quality of the films 3 & 4, they are really dull movies. Its been awhile since I watched them but since I bought the collection is was a good opportunity to revisit them and they are just slow-paced treks of human characters not accomplish anything and barely any Critters action at all (Who wants aliens in their shlocky B alien invasion movie?). Their inclusion in the collection has noticeably fewer bonus features compared to 1 & 2 and less impressive transfers but I don't think anyone outside the more hardcore Critters 3 & 4 fans who care and if you exist you have my sympathy. They're still worth a revisit if you've not watched them in a while but they are not films you'll want to revisit or share with anyone. For the price than, it's expensive considering that you're really paying for 2 movies that the general masses won't see as cinematic masterpieces, but if you're a fan of the series like I am and already love these movies I think it's worth it if you have some money to splurge OR if you can find it on sale at a good price. I was disappointed originally with the case covers included for Critters 2 & 4 (As they were essentially copied covers of 1 & 4 respectively); but all the movies have reversible covers so the classic Critters 2 case design is actually included in this bundle. ... show more

  • Great 4 movie set
I have always really liked the first Critters movie. I have seen it a few times over the years but never purchased it until now. It was on sale for a really good price so I picked it up for a Christmas gift. It's a good, very entertaining movie with lots of action. Not all 4 are great, but well worth watching. ... show more
