I've been looking for a cat back pack for a while as I'm toying with Van Life and want to take one of my kitties on the road with me. I've been eyeballing those bubble space packs, but when I saw this one I knew I had to give it a try. Pros: Really nice spacious large pack with rigid sides that keeps this pack from collapsing. Is sturdy enough for kitty to climb on to and very difficult to smash by hand. Very well made. The back extension gives this pack nice bonus room for additional space which could be used for food bowls or a small litter box when pack is not worn. Easy to extend and fold back into the pack with a duel zipper flap which encloses both sides of the extension. 4 possible zippered entry/exit doors allows kitty to be placed or removed from the pack a number of ways which is good if you have a unwilling kitty but also allows you to access kitty easily. Additionally, both the sides have a complete side zipper in addition to small mesh side doors making cat stashing quick and easy. Short leash style clip allows you to secure kitty with in pack so even when opened kitty can not climb out of pack. Leash adjusts. Leash clip is metal. 2 small side zippered pouches and a side pouch, possibly for a water bottle, allows you to bring along a few necessary items. Nice padded soft mat for the main portion of the pack provides additional comfort for the ride. Snap feature on the front door of pack allows you to roll the door and secure it. Additional padded handle allows you to hand carry pack in addition to the back pack straps. Straps and back of pack are padded for comfort. Straps adjust and have chest clip to safely secure pack to back. Cons: The zippers are plastic and while heavier duty, I worry that kitty may be able to pop the zippers with force. My cats are pretty neurotic. While the inner pad can be easily removed from pack, it is rigid and I am unsure if this can be machine washed. Looks like spot treat only which might be an issue if kitty gets scared and pees/poos. It is difficult to see kitty through mesh with out close viewing. This is a pretty heavy duty mesh so only time will tell how long it takes my cats to shred it. This pack is just not comfortable to wear. It has a flat fairly rigid back which makes it hard to comformt to the curve of your back. Probably long going to work for a long walk or hike, but short distances or times it will do. Over all I think this pack is very well made and well thought out especially for cat issues. I think if I'd change it, I'd make it more comfortable, metal zippers and add an additional option to zip up breathe-able black outs to help kitty feel more safe. Otherwise I think this is a superb pack and go kitty carrier and I can't wait to try it out going to the vet. Kitty actually liked it when we put her in it so...that's a good start. I think I might leave it open and let them get use to climbing into and possibly napping inside. ... show more

I saw that the bubble cat backpacks were popular so I wanted to try a type of cat backpack and this backpack exceeded my expectations. (I also believe this backpack is better than the bubble backpacks) I have 2 pets - one cat that is about 12 lbs and one small dog that is about 18 lbs. The backpack was perfect for my cat and for my dog it was a little small (but still doable) but probably not meant for medium or large dogs. The backpack is very sturdy and seems to be able to hold a lot of weight. It's comfortable to wear and I've been able to wear this backpack to carry my cat when I walk 1 mile to my mom's house. It is so much easier to carry compared to a typical cat carrier and would be great to bring the cat on the go to the vet, hotel, etc. The extending feature of it is one of my favorite features of it - unfortunately the expandable part only works when it's not in use since the extended part would be where your back is when wearing it, but it's nice because if you bring your cat somewhere and want to give them a little more room without letting them out, it gives them that extra space. This was very useful when we had to bring our cat to another house just to watch the cat but couldn't let the cat out. The material seems very breathable for the cat. One thing I was concerned about was the breathability for the pets in the backpacks and it's made out of good quality mesh which also means good air flow and unlike typical cat backpacks, it doesn't block their vision. Overall, very impressed with this backpack and it is useable in several different situations. Highly recommend! ... show more

We have an indoor cat but he loves going on walks and generally spending some time outside. We got this for him to go to the park or the vet, or any other activity that requires more travel. Pros: 1) I like that it can collapse and open. It is very easy to store 2) When it is open, it is spacious enough for my cat to lay down. 3) My cat is quite a big cat so he didn't like just having one compartment open. We were able to carry him with both compartments open without an issue. Of course, this way we weren't able to use it as a backpack, but still, it worked and that's a pro in my book. 4) It has visibility all around which made my cat less nervous. Once he was inside, he laid down and got comfortable. 5) My cat likes all the entrances. When we have it out, he wants to play running in and out through every opening. 6) Pockets! He has lots of toys and snacks for when we go out so the pockets come in solid. He knows where all his treats are now and paws them when he requires them. Cons: 1) If your cat is very big, like mine, he/she won't be comfortable with only the first compartment. It's possible to get them used to it but very large cats won't be able to lay down or it'd be hard to get them in the bag in the first place. Other than this, I don't see any other downsides. Overall: 4.3/5.0 The backpack has just helped us in many ways. Either taking him to the vet more comfortably, going to a park, or even playing and hiding snacks inside of it. I've seen and used a lot of expandable pet carriers, and have run into many disappointments. This carrier is not one of those. The material and closures are all very sturdy, and the backpack is comfortable to wear. There are several ways for a pet to get in and out, so when not in use for travel my pets have gotten to use it for play. The expanded region is of a nice size, although not as large as some I've seen - I wouldn't try putting a litter box in there or anything.
