I really didn't know what to expect when I ordered this, especially at such a great price, so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the Amazon package. The necklace itself was packaged in a cardboard box which would honor any gift should you purchase it for someone else. The ribbon attached to the box adds a nice touch, although it broke when I actually pulled on it to remove the portion of the box which actually contained the necklace. No problem, especially since I won't be keeping the necklace in the box anyway. It will look good hanging with the other necklaces in my jewelry collection. Opening the box itself was a bit tricky as well. I repeatedly pushed where it said "push", and just when I decided to grab a kitchen knife I finally got it open. So down to the best part about this product: This little necklace is very cute and very dainty. It's a yellow gold, but not so yellow that it looks fake. The charm itself is a perfectly-sized initial--not so large as to be gaudy and not so small that no one would notice it. Age should not be a factor, as I could see this working for teenagers just as well as a more "mature" woman like myself! My only concern is how well it wears, and for that only time will tell. To be honest, at this price I'm not expecting it to last long, but that just might be the best surprise of all with this necklace! I have a few necklaces I switch out during the week but this one is one of my favorites I find myself reaching for more than others. It is dainty without being too small. I haven't worn it in any water or subjected it to any perfumes, soap, or make-up but it feels to be of good quality and I haven't seen any tarnishing or any of the gold rubbing off. It's a great universal necklace that looks lovely dressed up or down. It would be a really special gift for a younger girl or teen, or to test out sizing if you would like to invest in an initial necklace but want to see what size you might be okay with for daily wear.
