I ordered this TELESIN Magnetic Mount Metal Extension Magic Arm to cannibalize it for parts. I have a Carplay unit that I've been wanting to mount in my pre-Carplay car for a few months. The mount that came with the unit is pretty worthless and will only work if I screw it in to my dashboard. Not only do I want to avoid destroying my dash, but I also want to avoid having a screen sitting between me and my view of pedestrians/other cars. The ball socket on the back of the unit is a non-standard size, so I can't just attach it that way. I screwed a round piece of steel to the bottom of one of my car's cup holders. The magnet in the Telesin holds tight to that. The Carplay unit is sitting in a modified tablet holder that has a ball which fits into the socket of the Telesin. It's ugly, but it works. It's hard to say whether or not this mount can be trusted to hold a camera to the exterior of your car while moving. I can say that the mount seems to be well constructed. I have a vlogging channel and cannot stress enough on having a good mount for video camera's. Not only you do not have to worry about carrying the camera while recoding, you also get great stablization. This mount is really well made and should last long. Strong magnets on the base sticks to the metal solidly and requires quite a lot of force for separation which is a good thing because if the base looses its grip, your camera will get damaged. Quick release is a great feature and allows you to mount and unmount your camera in no time. Has adjustment knobs for different video recording angles. I have a metal framed desk and wanted something that would "stick" to any random part to hold up a phone or small SBC or misc things. To that end it has been great. The magnet base is a bit big for my purpose but the magnets are strong and it works fine. I swapped in the 1/4" adapter and put a celphone adapter on it. It's worked just great. The adverts suggests putting it on the outside of your car... I'm not sure I'd do that. The magnets are strong but I wouldn't trust it on a moving vehicle. Otherwise this is a great mount. I picked up this Magnetic Car Mount to be used with my Insta360 camera while driving around. The overall build quality of the mount seems pretty superior with all its metal parts. It's super easy to assemble and attach to my vehicle. They also include a small tether that you wrap around the base of the unit and in my case tie it to my side mirror or close a window onto it - this is a safety in case the unit comes off the vehicle for any reason you still have it - and hopefully in one piece still. The tension arm is great, but the magnet isn't super strong. Not sure I'd but a $400 action camera on this and trust it to not fall off my car.

This is another magnet I got to use with my other gopro, I have two gopro, one is the mini and the other is the black 12. This works just as well as the pgytech version except it uses the screws of the gopro which makes it adaptable and easier to replace if you lose the screw. I like that it gives you the option to replace the head with a gopro mount or a phone mount or a 1/4in thread. Multiple options for usage. It comes with a safety paracord in case you mount this to a car and drive and scared to lose the camera while it is moving, It would be visible if you have a insta360 camera attached to it but the paracord is a safety precaution. ... show more

    • Very strong magnet. Good mounting accessories. Strong Grip.
I wanted to get these mounts because sometimes I need to use my GoPro or my phone on metal surfaces where I cannot attach my existing Gopro mounts. Sometimes I would need to stick the Gopro to a wall with a metal light switch plate, sometimes I needed to have one on the car, and sometimes I needed to have it stick to a ceiling near a metal vent. This magnetic mount came with a very strong magnet, so I had no worries even when it was holding my iPhone Pro Max with a case on. It takes a bit of effort to pull the magnet apart from the metal surface it's stuck to. The product comes with a phone mount, and although it's on a slightly smaller side given how my phone is an iPhone Pro Max, I was able to get the phone gripped onto by the mounting accessory without much issue. The magnetic mount has a soft rubberized bottom so I am relieved to say that it won't cause any scratches even if I were to stick it on my car. I think this mount will hold on tight even if I were to drive my car with the mount attached outside of the car, but I'm not going to drive fast with the camera/phone stuck outside the car because of common sense and out of abundance of caution. I like how the mount has that middle piece. Because one can screw the piece using the twist knob, I was able to easily tighten and loosen the ball joints and modify the position of the camera in a quick manner. And once the whole thing is tightened, it stayed still, so that was a big plus. ... show more
