    • This is a down and dirty, easy to assemble and use, starter telescope
This looks like a professional telescope. It is not; not by a long shot. It is a starter telescope and at this price point, a decent one. Many people forget that telescopes are for sky viewing and buy them to use to look at nearby terrestrial things. If you're planning on looking into windows of nearby homes or offices, buy binoculars. The smallest magnification you can get with this is 16X and then you have a limited field of view. At 16x you have to be pretty steady and if there's any wind out, this telescope and tripod are too light and cheaply made to give you a clear picture. This is great for looking at the moon, some constellations, etc. When you start to look at planets, you are going to use the 6mm eyepiece which will give you 66x magnification. Of course, at that magnification with this telescope, expect things to be pretty fuzzy and a bit dim, as 6mm is a small opening without a lot of light. And, if there's any movement, the image will be all over the place. I can see a ball field from about 3 miles away, clearly, when I use the 25mm eyepiece (16x) but compared to my 10x binoculars, is see a much smaller piece of the field (smaller field of view). There are some quality issues. My 25mm eyepiece had pieces of plastic in it which I was able to move, but not remove. The spotter scope is very cheap, and will only confuse a starter since the image is upside-down. Better scopes use a prism to adjust. This also includes a Barlow lens for magnification without much light loss and a 3x magnification (of what you get with your eyepiece) and an erector lens which along with your eyepiece of choice will get you a 1.5x magnification, but with position adjustment (view will be correct regarding top and bottom of the field of view). Given all of the accessories and the tripod, this is, as mentioned, an excellent value. Do not expect a professional scope and understand that it is very limited by weather conditions and lenses that are just so-so. I would have liked it more if they added another low magnification lens, such as a 3mm or even a 10mm so that terrestrial viewing was made easier.     • Nice Travel / Starter Telescope
This is basically a lightweight, easy to assemble refractor telescope that is ideal for travel. It has basically the same specifications as travel scopes made by the "name brand" telescope manufacturers. That is, it has a 400 mm focal length, 70mm f5.7 lens, 5x24 finder scope and a tripod with manual alt-azimuth mount . It comes with 2 Kellner eyepieces (25 and 6 mm), a 1.5 erecting lens, and a Barlow 3x lens, a phone mount, and a set of colored moon filters. It is extremely lightweight, which makes it easily transportable but also prone to shaking as you zero in on the object you want to observe. I also found the alt-azimuth controls not the greatest at staying put once you've located your object. That is to be expected at such a low price point. Hanging a weight on the tripod hook helps with stability. The 2 Kellner eyepieces give you a decent image. I used them to look at the Moon and Jupiter as a test. To start with, you can first find your object using the finder scope, which gives you a wide field although it's a bit awkward to use. Then use the 25mm one to observe. The Moon comes in nicely with that eyepiece. Switching to the 6mm gives you greater detail as it's a higher power one. I easily viewed crater detail and ray emanation from a crater. Jupiter, being smaller, was harder to zero in on but with patience I was able to view it with the 6mm eyepiece, although not nearly as clearly as with a larger telescope. The 25mm eyepiece gives you a 16x magnification while the 6mm gives you 67x. The Barlow lens triples that. The 1.5 lens also lets you view the image right-side up. The included eyepieces are good enough to have some observing fun with but at this price point they're not the highest quality. This scope is best used for the Moon and bright objects. The light gathering capability is just not enough for faint objects. All in all, this telescope is a good buy for a starter telescope that is easily transportable. It has a good range of accessories and can open the world of astronomical observing to the beginner at quite a good price. Just set you expectations appropriately. ... show more

This telescope is great. It is easy to assemble and comes with a travel bag. It is lightweight and easy to aim. The price point is perfect for the quality. It also comes with a phone adapter where you can connect your phone to it. So neat!
