    • Installation tips!
These will not work well without additional work and supplies. We had one of these racks fail on us several times. -the rubber they give you will fatigue and squeeze out the top of the clamp. This happened 3 times. Eventually, I used that fiberglass fix it tape as a spacer between the clamp and the vertical tower bar. That worked. -The clamp screws are too short, and they strip the aluminum threads. I got longer screws, and they stripped out too over the next couple boating trips. I had to drill all the way through the clamp and through the oval plate to install long through bolts that I trimmed with a grinder after they were good and tight. Over all, I had to rebuild/re-install the stupid thing 6 times before it worked. So, now that I’ve got all the bugs worked out, I got another one, and this time, I’ll start with the fiberglass spacer and I’ll drill the clamp for through bolts first thing. Hey— it’s the cheapest thing out there for a board rack, and on our 25 year old boat, a little bit of rigg’n comes with the territory. I just hope you can save yourselves a major headache. It wouldn’t surprise me if most of these racks ended up in the trash, after failing just after the return window is up. ... show more
