We got a new swing set and needed a few swings for it. I had a baby bucket seat but my 2yo wanted her own big girl seat. I picked up another seat a few days after this one so will be comparing the two. The other one was $7 less so will take that into consideration. This seat says that it will hold up to 250lbs and so does the other one. One thing that the other one says on the bag is that it is meant for 3-10 yo. This one has information on the backside, It also has more plastic underneath so it looks heavier and stronger. The chains are both the same length and commercial grade and covered with a yellow plastic coating for comfort and safely. Overall I am very satisfied with this swing. I have a 12-year-old son with autism and one of the few things that he loves to do is swing. Up until point we had managed to drag out the life of our wooden swingset that has survived through 3 boys. This last summer was its last year and it will get torn down soon. He has been very sad over this fact so we thought that we would surprise him with a new swing. I was so happy to find this extra duty swing seat that holds up to 250 lbs. We won't have to worry about the weight limit and know that it will last him for quite some time. The swing seat was thick and heavy compared to many swings out there. The chains are coated so you don't have to worry about fingers being pinched. I liked how the chain was attached to the seat itself because my son loved to take the chains off the old swing and they were a pain to loop back through the seat! With this seat, my teenage sons, my husband and myself can even swing! :) ... show more

Perfect for us so far! Much more economical than buying a swing & set of chains separately. The yellow coated area of the chains is more than adequate! I don't see how you could possibly use the swing in a way that you would need to hold the chain above the coated area. I have crazy kids & even they haven't had a problem yet - forward, backward, upside-down, on thier bellies or standing up ;) And the portion of the chain that is not safety coated still has a great, smooth finish that looks as though it will resist rust. The swing seat itself looks to be very well made, is very sturdy, works great for the kids & can easily and comfortably hold an adult (as long as what you're hanging it on can support said weight). I can't speak about the other reviews claiming the safety coating to become melted & sticky, we have not had that problem or any other problem at this point, but I will be sure to update this review if anything changes. I am very happy with these swings. I purchased two, to replace the older swings we had on our playground. The chain had broken on one of the older swings (while my daughter was swinging on it). As soon as I took these out of the box, I could not believe the difference. These swing seats are much better quality then the older ones we had. Both the chain and seat are significantly heavier and sturdier. They remind me of swings from public parks, except that the chains are easier to grip. Also, you can easily adjust the height of the swings. Lastly, my kids, who are 7 and 8 years old, and I sat comfortably on the swings. It was nice to see the kids playing again on the playground. Please note that the swing hangers (hooks) do not come in the box. So if you don't have them, you will need to purchase them separately. I haven’t tried it yet because it did not come with a way to attach it. The current carabiners I have are too thick to fit in the chain. I am just replacing a seat and chain so I don’t need to buy the heavy duty swing hanger for it, like it suggest in the instructions. I’ll try to find carabiners suitable to fit the chain. Other than that, it is as expected. Thick plastic seat should handle the weight and last awhile. Way thicker than a standard one. The chain although thinner than I would like still feels like good quality. The yellow grip part is good. Definitely $30 worth. I’ll try to update on how it holds up and if I can find replacement carabiners. ... show more

Well..this is indeed, extra duty. Perfect for the kid (5 y.o.) and will even hold my fat ass. Hung it from a tree that has a single rope secured to it. No need for straps or anything. Barring theft (hanging in front yard) or natural disaster, this is definitely the last swing I will ever buy for my daughter. I could see raising it as she grows but this swing will last as long as she needs. The rubberized chain protectant already paid for itself as my wife pushed our kiddo too hard and right off the seat. The rubber gave her sometimes grab on and kept her from getting pinched. I had a hard time with the cost initially but the value of knowing I'll never have to replace or repair this thing exceeds the difference in cost between this and inferior swings. ... show more

Love this swing, I bought it to replace a swing I just bought of my neighbor. I have been watching the antique archeology program with mike on direct tv. Myneighbor put a full classic swing set for sale, He said $30 and I said I'll take it. The neighbor said he had the swing for 10 years, and his gran kids out grew it. It was rustygold that needed some TLC. a little paint, and a new swing. THATS IT!! Well my little girl has been dying for a swing, so I bough it! Little did the neighbor know my husband is awesome a metal work. I had my husband cut the swing in 1/2 and then he powdercoated the swing to a shiny apple red. He took it to his shop and my swing looks like I paid at least$200. I simply replaced the10 YEAR SWING for a new one. I bought this one because the original swing had this brand on the swing.
