I knew my little girl would LOVE this for her birthday, but I noticed all the reviews that said the toy was too top heavy to swim, so I became hesitant. I decided to show my daughter a few options and this is still the toy she wanted most for her birthday present (even after I explained it couldn't swim). So I bought it and when she opened it on her birthday, to our delight, discovered that it totally swims fine! The body is submerged while the head bobs above water as it "swims" around for about 10 seconds after each wind up. This toy is a must have for my 5 year old now whenever she takes a bath or goes to the pool :) ... show more

My granddaughter (4) was thrilled to get this mer-pup because Skye is her favorite character. It might perform slightly better in a wading pool than the bathtub. I would give -5 stars. Defective, does not work. The item (if you’re lucky enough) might be working - as in paddling - however, once placed in the water (any type of water, sink, bathtub, pool, jacuzzi, ...) it stops. There is no enough force against resistance- again if you’re lucky and it really does work. I bought 2, one was a disaster, didn’t even work, bad material. The other worked in air, not in any other media! ... show more

The Skye that we got does not tip over. With most of her body in the water and her head and front paws out of the water she seems to do what she is supposed to do. Her body is more vertical than horizontal in the water. The people that said she tipped over may not have had enough water in the tub.
