  • MAN IT IS WHAT IT IS (AND IT LOOKS GREAT)
So I wanted a great looking smartwatch but didn't want to spend $2,000 on a Tag Heuer. Does the battery life sort of stink? Yes. Is the Google OS worse than Apple? Yes. Is it a great looking smartwatch with some nice features that warrants a $500 price tag? Absolutely. The sports stuff is great. The large screen is great. The way it looks is great. Style is great. Battery will get you through a day. Not quite 16 hours if you use the sports function. I have read all of the negative critiques on this watch and they don't hold much water. If you want sports and battery life only - get the other model. If you want a watch that has flawless functionally but doesn't look good - get the Apple. ... show more

  • At last - a proper battery!
Style: Stainless Steel Color: Black
I believe this is the first Android watch to PROPERLY use the 2100 and it has a massive battery - result is that if I don't use it for sports I can easily get 2 "rest" days out of it. Unlike so many of my other Wear watches I'm no longer embarrassed after a full day where the battery would run out in the bar at 11pm! By the way, this is with ALL features on, including the display. If you want to extend further, turn off WiFi. If I add in to my day an hours exercise connected to my Polar H10 chest strap using Google Fit then I will go to bed with about 30% left in the first day. Like all optical HRM, it's crap and will often just think I'm dead mid-exercise.. It's way to slow to catch up with the initial start however, this isn't specific to Suunto, none of my watches Optical HRM have worked for me. I'm not just talking about Wear watches, even my Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire would do the same. Suunto, for whatever reason, i suspect a commercial one, refuse to allow you to use external Bluetooth sensors with their app but, as I've already said, you can still use them with at least Google Fit and Endomondo and probably others. The screen at times can be slow to respond but, this is pretty much par for the course with Android Wear watches in my extensive experience. Sometimes just pressing the app button wakes it up and you're good to go. But the screen is AMAZING. I think Suunto KNOW they have the battery king and, the price is disproportionally high because of it. Value for money it is not but, if can afford it, then it's a beast of a watch because of the battery and screen. Edit: screen print attached. No sports today and WiFi off. Screen ALWAYS on. ... show more

  • Great watch absolutely ruined by an awful battery life
Style: Stainless Steel Color: Black
This Suunto 7, at a glance is a great watch, greet screen, great user interface, great materials. All thrown in the trash along with my money by an awful battery life. It is advertised to have a battery that lasts 40 hours, we can't even get a days worth, after waking up at 8 am with 100% we drove to a trail near by, before even starting a hike, the battery was already at 85%, without having done anything. After an hour hike, the watch was at 39%, and obviously the watch did not even make to 6 pm. This story has repeated itself for the following days without even recording any sport activity. Simply sucks, and makes a great watch worth absolutely nothing. ... show more

  • Finally, the complete wearable
First off, props to Amazon. I ordered this watch 3 weeks before release and was told it would arrive on the Tuesday after being released on a Friday. Received it the day after release on Saturday during lunch. WOW. Combine that sweet surprise to the incredible form and function of the Suunto 7 and I was in seventh heaven immediately after opening the box and holding this beauty for the first time. The fact that it is a true recreational / adventurist wearable with GPS that automatically downloads 'heat maps' when you travel to a new area for hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, running (you get the picture), and combines itself with the best OS available in Google's Wear OS, makes this watch more functional and fun than anything I could have imagined. Check the Suunto website for a better description than I can give of the 'heat maps'. I've only been wearing this amazing device for 24 hours, but the seamless integration with my Android phone, my Gmail accounts, and ability to use Google's OS features like Maps, Translate and Find my phone with a simple tap on the watch face has me blown away. Finally! A watch that can be customized to whatever your preference, that completely harnesses the power of the latest and greatest wearable tech available. ... show more

  • Nice looking watch, abysmal battery, not a daily tracker: short workouts only.
Wanted to love it, but the battery absolutely destroys the experience. If you turn all features off, gps, notifications, weather, EVERYTHING, you can get it to last one day. ~16 hours. No sleep tracking because you MUST charge every night. No fitness activities because when you activate any activity like running, the gps turns on and the battery dies within 1-2 hours. If the watch goes into battery saver, the workout ends. Step counting only really works during fitness activities , rest of day is super inconsistent. I walked around my yard swinging my wrist with every step just to test: I counted out to 1000 and the tracker counted 340. Hard pass. Dear Suunto: the watch looks great, but the experience needs help. I will keep my watch and change my review if the firmware can be updated to improve the step accuracy and battery life. But as is, in order to make it last one day I can't use any of the cool features I bought the watch for. Might as well have bought a fbi*t that will last 6 days and do all the same things, since I have to disable everything on suunto7 just to keep it on life support. Or maybe mine is defective. Who knows. I've now had the watch and used daily for over a year. Battery still needs to be charged every 48 hours, but I'm ok with that. Step count is still not as generous as Fitbit but again once you get into your "normal" you know whether your general trend is up or down. They've added basketball and a bunch of other activities that I actually use. But most of my use case is just walking while on work calls. I'm not sure where Suunto finds so many people that have 9 hours to spend mountain climbing every day, but I'm just a regular person trying to stay healthy and get 12k-15k steps a day around the house and neighborhood. Works fine. Plenty durable. Weather app and find my phone button are great. ... show more
