  • Wish there were more seasons
DC blows Marvel away. I’ve been a DC fan for 40 years and after watching both sets there’s no comparison. Also critics have to stop thinking that there the same because there not. Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash could destroy the avengers without even trying. Justice league forever.

  • Girl who flies
I like the videos, I bought it because I have watched them on Netflix, but lately it would grease up.

  • Great set terrible packaging. Warning be careful with disks.
The series is great, but like Arrow, and the Flash complete sets the holders are bad. In every set like the final disk of each first season the holder seems bad. Only that specific one as each one of those my disk cracked. I had to buy the individual seasons again for a new disk. All other disks are fine. ... show more

  • 3 good seasons, 1 at best OK, 1 bad, 1 mostly terrible + bad disk quality = a mixed bag.
First the disk quality. Midway through Season 1 it pixelated in an episode. I did the usual things - restarted, cleaned disk, tried fast forwarding - and managed to get to the other side of the issue. And then it happened in the next episode. It happened at least once in seasons 2-4 and when I hit 5, I couldn't get to the menu so I returned it to Amazon and ordered a new set. More pixelation and when I went back to season 1, same issue as before. It did better on a different Blu-ray but its repeatability indicates there's an issue with the printing. Mild spoilers follow. Supergirl probably isn't for everyone. It has a distinctly progressive tone that got stronger in later seasons. That didn't bother me but will bother some. They stated out doing a lot of things right but in season 4, they started doing a lot of things wrong. The pluses? 1. A good cast led by Melissa Benoist. Even towards the end when things became sadly laughable, the cast didn't just phone it in. After watching the show 'til completion, it's tough to imagine someone bringing more to the role than Ms. Benoist. 2. She wasn't an overpowered hero. Sure she was normally the strongest character in the show but she could be killed and unlike in the comics, sort of easily. She needed air to breathe among other things so space travel and being underwater were problematic. 3. Besides beating up on the villain of the week, relationships were a strong focus. Kara and her sister, both of them and The Manhunter, Lena and Kara, ... A lot of relationships and some interesting interactions between characters. 4. Decent story arcs. The showrunners had not just ideas for the season but episode development that supported the arc. Interspersed were a few stand alone episodes that were generally entertaining or at least advanced character development. And then we get to the last 3 seasons where things unravel. 1. Where relationships were always a strong point, the writers purposefully fracture them. Her sister gets brainwashed and doesn't know she's Supergirl. For 2, maybe 3 episodes this might be worth following but they drag it out for 10 and remove one of the series' strengths. Lena is Kara's best friend ... until for an entire season she's on a snit and working to get revenge on Supergirl for a slight that should have lasted an episode or three. Brainy goes unBrainy and betrays everyone. None of these made any sense to carry beyond a few episodes. 2. Unmemorable antagonists became the norm. While season 3 had Reign, a Kryptonion on steroids, who literally beat Supergirl into a coma and pretty much did the same every time they met and it came down to physical strength, season 4 had ... an angry human. And another angry human. And Supergirl clone, just like season 1. And the introduction of a caricature of a villain in Lex Luthor who was really part of Superboy's/Superman's storyline, not Supergirl. This continued in the later seasons where the villains became an imp, delusional god wannabes, and where Lex became omnipotent, able to change history, create the weapon of the day that always proved the right one for the occasion at hand, and in a particularly sad validation of how the show had sunk, a giant fluffy toy. Pretty pitiful. 3. The story arcs were bad and once that train left the station, there was really no way to salvage the season. Weak individual episodes certainly didn't help but they were just chapters in a book with a bad plot. It was known the show was ending at season 6 so one would think the final battle would be epic. It was instead perhaps the most pathetic of the entire run, maybe because they didn't want to spend much on a cancelled show but it was a sorry way to send off this series. Ms. Benoist and the cast deserved better. 4. Not really isolated to Supergirl but the CW Arrowverse chose to have as one of their seasonal crossover arcs the resetting of the entire DC multiverse. The disks are included in this box set. Suddenly Lex is a good guy loved by the world as Lex has rewritten history. Now Lex is everyone's boss and Supergirl works for him. Ugh. Things sort of get sorted out but not until after the damage to the show was done. So is it worth $100? Looking at the cost/hour, it comes in at about $2/hour for the enjoyable shows, most of the first 3 seasons and a dozen or so of the later episodes. While not cheap, it's also not expensive so for me it was worth it. Much of the later seasons were just background noise while I did other things but someone else might love them so we're talking opinions. Still ratings dropped season by season and really went off the rails after season 3 with season 6 having about one-third the average viewers of season 3 so I'd say my views were shared by others. I don't regret buying this but I can understand why others might think it a bad buy. ... show more
