  • If you love a good platformer/puzzle type game... PICK THIS UP.
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
When I made the decision to pre-order a Switch, I had a tough time deciding which game to pick up. I would consider myself a casual gamer with no time for a game like Zelda (not to mention, those types of first/third person games make me nauseous). Super Bomberman stood out amongst an otherwise thin lineup and it helped that Amazon offers the 20% off on pre-orders for prime customers. After playing the game, I'm really happy I purchased it. While Konami did not make this game as polished as a Nintendo first party title, the enjoyment is on the level one would get playing a Super Mario or Donkey Kong game. Think Captain Toad Treasure Tracker but with awesome multiplayer. The basic premise is you walk around planting bombs to destroy physical barriers and enemies in order to get through levels. That's it... lol. What I like about it is: 1) The controls are extremely easy to pick up, but it's one of those games I know will be a challenge to master. 2) Story mode looks great. The story is very basic, similar to Mario and DK (bad guy wants to conquer the known universe, good guys fight through levels trying to stop him). But it works and just gives you that added motivation. 3) MULTIPLAYER. It's cool that you can do multiplayer in story mode. The gameplay makes itself amenable to this very well. And then there is battle mode, which can be played with local multiplayer or online. This is a lot of fun also. There is a lot of depth in trying to trap other players, time the bombs just right... but even with the best of plans you can very easily blow yourself up. If you are looking for a great game to get at launch and like platformer/puzzle type games, DEFINITELY pick this one up. ... show more

Es como recordar cuando de niño lo jugué en Super Nintendo. La movilidad es el único punto flaco del juego a diferencia de aquellas entregas del pasado.

  • Reasons why this game is not recommended and you should return it if you have already ordered it
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
I had zero doubt on purchasing this game before it released. I have been a bomberman fanboy since NES era. I even purchased Sega Saturn just to play the first Bomberman game with internet support in 1996. Thus, I gave a chance to Konami. (You know why I say that.) More I play, more doubts and frustration I have for this game. If anyone asks me to comment this game, I would say this is a black dot to the Bomberman series. In the rest of the review, I will give you reasons why this game is not recommended and you should return it if you have already purchased it. Control: 0/10 Not gonna lie, the control of this game is screwed up. I got input lag and error all time in the story mode and multiplayer mode. In my first game, I pushed up the joystick and my character kept running in a wrong direction even after I put my finger back. And it also has a serious input lag during the whole gameplay. Mulitiplay mode is even worse, I connected online play last night and you know what? One player of four could not move. And the rest of us moved like Neo in the slow motion scene for about 20 seconds and then we became Barry Allen moving in light-speed for about 3 seconds. Eventually, two players were dead and I drew a match with another dude because we both could not move out from our bombs. Even worse, the system automatically set us a rematch because we drew a game. Once the rematch started, everyone except me rage quit the game and the system automatically cancel the match. I played five to six games after, the lag happened consistently and everyone rage quit every single game. At first, I wondered if its hardware problem, so I tested the game on both Joy Cons and Pro controllers. I found out they both had the same issues. I also borrowed other switch systems from 3 friends of mine and all system shared the same input lag issues. One of them also bought this game from gamestop, and he also had the input lags as mine, which means that the lag issue is not an individual case due to individual hardware issue. A thirty years old bomberman game has a better control than this game. So, 0 credit given by me on this shitty game control. Graphic Art and Design: 6/10 This graphic is the only thing in the game that does not bother me so much. But the enemy design in the story mode is repetitive and boring. Gameplay: 2/10 Despite of the input lag, I could not enjoy the game at all. But the features of Neo's slow motion dodge and Berry Allen light-speed action is entertaining in this game. Thus, I would like to give it 2 credits. Difficuly: 2/10 In order to reduce the compact of input lag does to the single play mode, Konami made the enemy AI absurdly easy to balance the difficulty. But you still get killed easily with the lag. Story and Voice acting: 0/10 Story is so boring that everyone would skip. The voice acting in this game is unnecessary and painful. A high school student would write better dialogues and act better than this. This game has voice acting only in the cut scene which does not affect the gameplay at all. But the non-emotional robotic voice makes the cut scene so weird and cringe that gave me middle ear. Believe me, you would rather watch B_eatty awkwardly standing on the stage trying to clarify he did not mess up Osca_r 2017 best movie award. This game has so many problems and it deserves any negative reviews from buyers. The bad connection to the online mode is more than enough to convince myself to return this game. Consider its price, I would not recommend this game to anyone I know. This game is definitely an incompleted game that intended to take money from all bomberman fans. ... show more

  • Have quality time with the kids and be their gaming pal.
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
I played bomberman when I have the Nintendo Famicom console decades ago. This game is awesome!! Now my kids are playing and we as the parents join them and have fun together. This is a great way spending times together. I'm not encouraging children spending hours on gaming but as a family, we can spend an hour of quality time having good time and laughing together. We had two extra controller so we can have 4 player at the same time. I know you can have up to 8 player on but we never try it. The game has vs mode, team battle which allows you vs each other or team up again computer or your own family members. ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised! Online Multiplayer!
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
The dialogue in the story mode is actually pretty funny and the voice acting fits every character pretty very well. What was a big surprise is the fact that the game has ONLINE MULTIPLAYER. I was able to play a match with 2 other random players with no hiccups. What's nice is that you can also change the match making settings from same region, worldwide, and people with good connection only. Online offers quick match and some sort of ranked playlist. You can also make your own room to play with friends or randoms online! As for the story mode it's pretty much classic bomber man with funny cheesy dialogue and boss battles. You can also play the story mode in local co-op with another player! It plays from a top down view in sort of an angle point of view. Works well with how the maps are setup in my opinion. You can however change it to fixed camera as well. Didn't notice much of a difference though.. While battle multiplayer is completely top down view. Overall I'd say it's a must have if not just for the multiplayer alone! It's also rumored that konami is considering going back to older franchises if this game sells well. Thankfully it's a great game well worth your time ... show more
