  • For the price of this Sunex set on Amazon, it was my 3/8 impact set of choice - great quality for a DIY'er or even full time use
I was looking for a good 3/8 inch Impact set to go with my new Milwaukee 2754 Impact Wrench, and there were a few good sets in the running. I had it narrowed it down to the Sunex, Gearwrench and Grey Pneumatic sets. All of the sets were Made in Taiwan, and all were of similar quality. The Grey had a more polished finish, and was at the front of the pack, but it appeared that all three sets were about the same quality and perhaps even made in the same factory. The tiebreaker was the price - when I found the Sunex set here on Amazon for $54.99, it became a "no-brainer". The other sets were as much as $30 more depending on where you looked. (Note that checking back today on the price for this same set, Amazon and third party sellers are now asking $78 - so the price has gone up - at least temporarily). The prices for these sets are all over the map, with some sites even asking $175 for the Gearwrench set! One edge the Sunex set has on the Grey set was the sizes stamped into the sockets as well as etched - the etching wears off and having the size stamped on the side is nice. This Sunex set is of completely acceptable quality, and for a DIY'er is more than I need. I have used it to change shocks on two vehicles, and install a sway bar on my SUV, and they performed wonderfully. I have seen a couple of online reviews that claim the Sunex set is not a "true" deep socket, and that concerned me, but when I received the set I was pleasantly surprised to find these reviews wrong. The Sunex deep sockets are every bit as deep internally as any other choice, and that should not be a concern if you are thinking of buying it. Please note it is good to keep a thin coat of oil on these sockets, especially if you live in a high humidity climate. Over time they will show signs of rusting if you don't. Overall, very pleased with this set, and the price made it my set of choice. I am now looking for my 1/2" set! Thanks for reading. ... show more

  • Affordable and durable
These perform just as well as my tool truck sockets for 1/4 of the price. I’ve put these through the wringer, air tools, battery tools, stuck bolts, doesn’t matter. The quality of the socket is out standing. For what you pay, I have no complaints. The mold case is extremely durable and stands out in your toolbox. I can’t talk about their warranty because I’ve never had to warranty one. The female insert hasn’t rounded out in any of my sockets yet, they still fit nice and tight. Don’t waste your money else where. ... show more

  • Nice kit.
I have had this for a while now and it works just fine for me. It represents good value as far as I am concerned.

  • Greatest portable 3/8” set
Sunex sockets are superior to any major tool truck brand out there. These are thin walled but have enough mass to break anything loose when used on a pneumatic or high torque battery impact. The case is slimmer than a laptop and can be slid in any bag without issue. This is my most frequently used and well loved tool in my toolbox by far. Sunex customer service is also unmatched by any other manufacturer. Slowly started to see Mac, Gearwrench, and Matco trucks carrying Sunex tools over the past few years, and hardly any warranties having the be filed for broken tools ... show more

  • Great sockets. The box latches quit latching pretty quickly.
Sockets are great. The latches on the box quit snapping.

  • Excellent thin wall 3/8 impact sockets
Been using these sockets with my milwaukee 3/8 stubby impact. They have been great, used some of the larger size sockets on the highest setting (roughly 250 ft/lbs rating) and they take the hits no sweat. The universal joint has held up well also, love that addition. Fantastic value socket set

  • All your eggs in one basket
I had a set of big Sunex sockets in my last work truck, and they did a great job for a long time, so I picked up this set of 3/8 impact sockets because of my previous good experience. What do you look for in an impact socket? First, that they don't break. They stay on the gun, yet pull off the anvil easily. The wall can't be too fat, and they have to put a good grip on the fastener. This set does all of the above. The selection is just what you want; 5/16 and 8mm through 3/4 and 19mm, deep and short. The 3" extension and swivel is a bonus. The swivel works well; the most important thing it can do (except not breaking) is it must hang onto the socket when you slip off the fastener. This swivel does that well. I hate searching for a socket that got launched into orbit. ... show more

  • Really well made.
I have been working on stuff in my garage all my life. Worked in my dads garage with him when I was a kid. A lot of my sockets actually came from his garage (30 years ago....), well from there and cheap sets from auto parts stores and places like Kmart. I have broken and pitched many sockets.... many. I figured I would try and buy a decent set. I checked around and talked to some tool vendors and WOW, good sets of sockets are really expensive. I almost put the money down for a whole setup, but I didn't want to drop that kind of cash. So I bought this in 3/8 and 1/4 drive, from Amazon. These are as good as any $300 (each) set I looked at. I have used them several times since I got them, haven't had to stand on anything to break something loose yet. But these are 100% impact sockets and are made really well from what I can tell. No worries getting these instead of the $300 ones. ... show more
