They're the prefect weight. Easy to handle and look like they are going to wash up beautifully. I bought them for the color (black and white kitchen), style, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe. Only 1 blemish on a large plate. Looks like it happened when the black was being added. It isn't a normal scratch or gauge, just a 'defect' during production. The stoneware comes with this guarantee, so I'm going to call and see if i can get a replacement plate. Or if they have a suggestion on fixing it. I'm more somewhat concerned on how this will affect it going thru microwaving and the dishwasher. I'll do an edit as soon as I am able to talk with customer service at Stone Lain. I love these plates! All items arrived in good quality--no chipped or broken pieces. I ordered them in yellow; they are a little more mustard-colored than yellow, but that's what I was hoping for, anyway. They are pretty heavyweight, which makes them feel like higher quality but also makes them a bit more difficult to hand-wash if you have lots of them. The cups are on the smaller side if you pour your coffee/tea by hand, but they are a perfect size if you use a Keurig. All of the items look very modern, and I'm very happy with their overall look! I haven't had any issues so far in the dishwasher, but I never use them in the microwave, as I cook most food in the oven. So, I'd defer to other reviewers. I haven't seen significant scratching on them with stainless steel utensils, though. I previously had more expensive, similar-looking plates from Pottery Barn, and these are about as good for half the price! I just want to say in advance, though: these plates are not ideal if you have children. They're not inherently dangerous at all, but they really are stoneware, which makes them heavy and can cause a weird sound if you don't wield your knife well. That's not something special about these plates, though--all stoneware is like that. All in all, would happily recommend! ... show more

We love these, not only do they look great, they function well and are very sturdy; I've dropped the coffee cup a couple of times and to my surprise not even a chip on it. They are holding up quite well. Excellent buy!

I bought these for my son for his new apartment and he loves them. The color is great. They are very thick dishes so if you like thick dishes, then this is for you. I personally like my dishes to be a little thinner but he likes them. So far, no chipping and easy to clean no missing pieces.

These are great looking dishes and I bought them for the lip around the edge, which prevents food from sliding of the plates, but I found the deep bowels to be great for salads, since you will find it much easier to eat a salad from. Your fork gets far more lettuce with one stab and no need to stab multiple times to get a forkful. They are heavy though and not for kids or elderly. ... show more

I’ve wanted black dished for a long time and had my eye on some magnolia dishes but they were expensive and had terrible reviews! I came across these and bought them on Black Friday for an awesome deal! I got a total of 16 place settings. Everything was packaged so well nothing broke! I thought for sure with 64 dishes being shipped something would be broke, everything was perfect. One of my mugs does have some kind of defect or chip though, but I didn’t feel it was enough to knock any stars or contact customer service. These dishes are beautiful! Some people were saying they are more of a charcoal gray, I could see that but I think it’s just because they are matte. They also are not a “cookie cutter” dish. Some have little flaws or are shaped a little different but I chalk it up to being handmade and rustic. If you are looking for plates that stack perfectly these aren’t it. Because of the lip they also stack a lot higher than my previous dishes, I can’t fit all of them on the same shelf. I also have to skip slots in the dishwasher, none of these things bug me but thought I’d add that to the review for others. I also read lots of reviews about scratches, we’ve used these everyday for about a week and I’ve seen a couple very light scratches, nothing I would complain about. We have two rough boys who eat on these and unload the dishwasher and put these away for me and they’re holding up great. I have yet to use a steak knife on them so I can update on that once I do. As far as the mugs I do feel they’re on the small side, I’m an avid coffee drinker and do prefer a bigger mug. But again overall they’re still great! No regrets, I am loving these dishes so far! ... show more
