Super cute costume for my son's ninja themed birthday party. Pleasantly surprised at the detail (for example, the red piping/trim), for the price point. This is the stretchy nylon Halloween type quality of costume. It is not see through, which is helpful considering that it is black. You enter through the back and it is pretty easy to do since it opens all the way up from the waist with velcro strips. The arm ties are fixed to the costume, which is nice. Would have liked the leg ties to also be, but they are not. They are separate so they may not be around long depending how well they stay on while running around. The belt is separate and attaches with Velcro and is backed with foam so it has a little stiffness to it which allows it to stand up nice and straight. I usually buy higher end costumes because he is a kid who love to dress up and keeps them for years but this he chose himself and it is very cute, so even if he abuses it to an early retirement I am happy with it because of the really great details it has that so many others lack. You really can't go wrong with this one. He is wearing the size 8-10 and it fits like a glove. As you can see he is thin, and he is a tad short for his age. The sleeves have a little length to spare but the legs do not I used the sizing chart for this product and expected it might be big due to the information, however it is not. Considering his size and the got of this costume I would guess that this would NOT fit an average 10 year old boy or possibly even a girl, and that a 9 year old boy may be a stretch, however a 9 year old girl would probably be fine with it. My 5 year old son absolutely loved this costume. We bought it for Halloween and he also frequently asks if we'll let him wear it to the playground or just for fun. So far, it's stood up to several wash cycles. Overall, I'm impress at the quality of this budget costume. We appreciate the various little flourishes, like the straps on the arms and legs which add a bit of extra flair to the costume but are something that they could have easily gotten away with leaving off. Also appreciated that the costume is light enough to be worn in warm weather/ indoors but also has room to be worn on top of other layers in cold weather; so this was comfortable for my son both at a crowded indoor party and trick or treating at night. My son actually preferred wearing it on top of his jacket because he thought that the extra bulk looked like muscles, however this was too much for the velcro on the back which kept on popping open (nothing that a safety pin couldn't fix). Of course it's still a budget costume when you come right down to it. There a few aspects that would have bothered me if I had spent more, but did not at this price point. Specifically, the felt ninja stars were floppy and looked kind of silly, as well as the issue that I already mentioned about the velcro not being strong enough to hold it shut when worn with layers. But my son still thought it was awesome, and that's all that really mattered. It did not come with the plastic sword in the picture, but we easily obtained one for $0.99. However, they did through in a bonus plastic action figure ninja in a matching costume which my son thought was cool. One final note for anyone buying any highly rated budget costume from Amazon, be prepared to see several kids wearing identical costumes at school. The up side is that half a dozen ninjas playing together makes a whole lot more sense (and makes for better photos) than half a dozen Captain Americas, but good luck telling which kids is yours. ... show more

This was a successful costume. I bought the 8-10 for my average size 6.5 year who is kind of in between sizes 6 and 7 right now. It fit well. The quality is not amazing but it's better than other costumes we've bought, and it held up just fine through several days of pre-Halloween activities and wearing it the whole day at school, plus trick or treating. The one frustrating part is the ribbons that you're supposed to tie around the shins and arms. The leg ribbons in particular kept slipping down and tripping my son, no matter what way I tied them. I ended up just cutting them off. I really didn't think they added anything at all and my son was much happier without them. The throwing stars were a bit hit with the boys--there are no sharp pieces, just foam. I also liked that the hood is attached so there was no chance of losing it! Keep in mind, even though the picture shows a sword, it doesn't come with anything but a belt and the throwing stars--no swords. Overall this was a pretty good costume for the price, and it was exactly what my son wanted. ... show more
