"StarTech.com USB to Lightning Cable - 2m / 6 ft -Apple MFi Certified - Angled - Black - iPhone Charger Cable - Apple Certified Lightning Cable" I've been using this cable purchased in 5/2017 and in 11/2017. Both are still working fine, BUT I had to take measures to ensure the strain relief portion didn't "break" the cable. I just tested both of these cables, and both are still doing great. I'm posting this review now because I've still NOT been able to find a better cable on Amazon to replace it with(so sad). (and I just now needed to order another one for use in a different area.) My first cable started to separate at the right angle Lightning connector end, at the edge of the strain relief (as many others have already posted). Mine are still doing OK ONLY because I managed to address the flaw in the strain relief. To keep from damaging the connector further, on the first cable, I tried wrapping some electrical tape over the strain relief, and the cable. (I could have used better tape, and it's coming loose and sticky. I'll be taking it off to re-do.) On the second cable, I tried some Silcone tape. It’s now starting to slip down, and it needs to be re-applied. I think I’ll loop the first wrap around the end of the connector to keep it from slipping down again. It is non-sticky tape, and you apply it by greatly stretching it as you wrap it, and it then “bonds” to itself. I may put a “tie wrap” over the final wrap, since that part seems to come loose. Regarding the cable wiring itself, It tested very well. (or as well as could be expected for the wire gauge used): My USB power source voltage dropped from 5.21V to 4.99V with a 2 amp load on it. My Cable then dropped that voltage down to 4.53V at 1.995Amps, at the end of the cable I can calculate my voltage drop across the cable length: 4.99V minus 4.53V = .46V dropped along the length of the cable. Using Ohms law: R=E/I, (.46V/1.995A) shows total resistance of this cable is 0.230 Ohms (about a quarter of an ohm). (not bad, my 6’6” long StarTech “right-angle Lightning connector” cable is ~ 2 years old and is getting pretty worn) I tested my 2nd Startech 6’ cable and it dropped to 4.54V Per USB hardware spec info: Devices' configuration and low-power functions must operate down to 4.40 V at the hub port by USB 2.0 and that devices' configuration, low-power, and HiGH POWER functions must operate down to 4.00V at the device port (=lightning connector end of the cable) by USB 3.0. This cable will be perfect for my car, and for traveling, and I will consider purchasing another one to keep in the house. I've been using a regular cable and the cord is always in the way. This is not only a shorter cord, but the coiled aspects keeps it "tidy." If I need to stretch it out, it stretches far enough for my needs. Since I don't use my phone when driving, this is perfect, as well. But, if I had to use it in an emergency or whatever, the cord stretches far enough. That by itself wouldn't be enough for the 4 stars, what I'm giving it 4 stars for is the sturdy plug ins, on both ends. When I compared them to my present cord, they're bigger, sturdier--more well made. This makes me feel confident that there won't be any crimping on the smaller end (as what's happening to my present cord). It's a heavier, sturdier cord that'll put up with the "abuse" I sometimes put my cables through. Tossing them around, stretching them, and as well, this one I won't have to wrap or wad up to keep it out of the way. I took photos to compare the ends. But as well I took a photo of the entire cable alongside a pack of cards to show the size of it. Perfect size for the car, or if you have a small space at home where you don't want cable cords snaking all over the place. However, if you need a cord that will stretch out fairly far, then this is not the cord for you. I would definitely recommend if you need a shorter cord that will coil out of the way; and for the very well-made and sturdy "plug in" pieces at both ends. ... show more

Okay so I bought this back in the beginning of April cus I bought my new car and wanted a charger that’s not long or in the way but at the same time long for when I need it and want to text or put on music before I drive. This was the only iPhone charger I found that was able to do what I wanted. Only thing is once you stretch it all the way it goes back but not as small as it used to be. But honestly that’s not even an issue to me cus it stays out of the way enough for it not to bug me. Someone said that it only worked for them for 2-3 months? Others said it wouldn’t connect they’re phone to apple play, this is SOMEWHAT true. If you connect your phone while the screens still on then it’s connects w out a problem to apple play. Sometimes when u connect it w out the screen on then only sometimes it will connect to apple play. If you connect and apple play isn’t on just unlock your screen and apple play will pop up on screen. Other then that it’s been doing a great job and I rlly recommend it. It’s September so I’ve had 5 months w it and it’s holding up great. ... show more

This is just what I needed. A short cord with pigtail windings to allow it to grow when I need it to and stow away compactly when I don't. The only thing that one "might" be disappointed with is the quality of stretchiness in the cord. The rubber used to coat the wire is not supple and that lends itself to a more stiff expansion when stretching it. In no way is this a deal-breaker and I only docked it one star in the "Value for money" category. It certainly feels durable and up to years of use. The plug fits snuggly in the charging port of my phone and in the lighter adapter which was nice, as I hoped that it wasn't going to be loose. Well worth its price point. ... show more

I have uploaded a picture which shows the StarTech cable on the left and the Apple cable on the right. The StarTech cable is a bit thinner and stiffer. The thickened part at the base of the connectors is stiffer in the StarTech. Not sure what, if any, effect that has on how long the cable will remain attached. This can be a problem with some cables. So far, no sign of a problem. If a problem develops, I will update this review. Basically, this is a functional cable which is a reasonable replacement for the original Apple cable. Belkin and AmazonBasics also offer replacement cables and I have had excellent luck with those brands as well. If I were to need another replacement cable, I would pick whichever was cheaper of these 4 brands. ... show more
