This is the worst retractable hose ever made. I owned it for four months. It worked fine and the. I heard a snapping sound and it no longer would retract. It the started leaking black liquid all over my pool deck. It is kept out of the sun and rain and I never retract it without the water off and nozzle open so water doesn’t get inside of it. Poorly made piece of junk. I’m surprised Amazon would sell it. I honestly wish I could give it zero stars. ... show more

    • Perfect if it worked! Buyer beware.
I purchased the Stanley Retractable Hose Reel on April 25, 2019 and as of February 2020, it refuses to retract. Mind you, this retractable hose has been used probably once a week, if that, simply to hose off the mower after cutting grass. By adults. Suffice to say, it is not designed well and can't handle even a minimal workload. I clicked on the, "Warranty PDF" only to find no information on this product. Never again. ... show more

    • Price point is unreliable. Mine lasted about 10 year then the sun did it in. Overall good.
Not rated well, but this is one of the more affordable reels. I replace mine after 5-10 years. The small hose is frustrating for volume of water. If your going to hand water a large area , your not going be happy, it just doesn't make much water for the resistance of the small line and the long length. If you wash your care in the sun, those suds are going to back before you get enough water on the car to rinse it properly. Its a very attractive hose reel, easy to install and will look bad in a few years of sun. Easy to replace once you have one. ... show more

    • DO NOT PURCHASE! Defective Spring Tension
After using the Stanley garden hose for just a few weeks the spring tension stopped working properly. I followed the instructions to tighten the tension, but nothing worked. The hose does not spring back nor can it be fed back into the housing. This product is a huge disappointment.

    • Plastic breaks easily
I wanted to love this item...I had been wanting one for a long time, but didn't trust that it would be as good as it appears. I had been looking at items similar to this one for a few months and decided to finally buy one. I was quite excited when it got delivered. It was purchased off of Amazon marketplace, but had not been used. I was nervous about attaching it to my house so I installed it to a wood post that I cemented in the ground. The directions for using the bolts that came with it were not detailed enough for me. It did not contain the drill bit size so I had to do my best to guess. I try to be a do-it-yourself kind of person, but I need directions. Regardless...I eventually got it installed and was super excited! The day of winding up my hose by hand seemed to be behind me!!! On my first retraction of the hose there was a big smile on my face....then I tugged and let it retract back. It went zipping back to the reel and hit the plastic casing and immediately cracked it!!! I was stunned! It is still usable, but I couldn't believe it broke that easily. Knowing what I know now, I probably should not have let it retract without me holding on to it, but I didn't know. I will certainly do that in the future. The system is still usable, but I believe the plastic should be a bit more durable. If you have children, I guarantee you they will let it retract independent of themselves and it will likely hit the plastic covering and crack. BE CAREFUL! Other than the skimpy directions and very thin rell plastic covering, it works well. I have warned my children about proper use so this does not happen again. To be honest....it was such a deflating experience after feeling so excited about the product. Because I live with children who actively play outside with their friends and use the hose to play with water, I would not recommend this to others in similar circumstances. It is not durable enough for regular use in a household. ... show more

    • Return spring broken after 2 months use, took 3 months to get a warranty response
I have owned another of this brands reels for years without issue. I purchased this in May 2020 and it was broken by August. You have to jump through hoops to get warranty help and so far I have not received anything beyond they are looking into the claim after 6 weeks. Update oct 27 ... still no word from the "warranty department" at bond manufacturing. This isn't actually made by Stanley but licenses the name. I am very unhappy so far with this warranty process. I received a response from customer service that they will be shipping me a replacement. The kicker, they gave me 10 days to send them my address or they would close the matter out ... they had my address from the original filing. ... show more

    • Nice tool to keep the hose neat.
So far I love it. I will continue to love it if it works well in the long run. The one drawback is the bolts that came with the hose reel were for mounting to a board that is to be mounted to your siding. I already have a large block of wood so I needed to get some large wood screws. No size was specified in the package instructions and I tried to contact both Stanley and the manufacturer. The response from the manufacturer was too late and only reiterated the instruction. It did not answer my question. ... show more

Unfortunately the item arrived broken and I’m afraid it won’t last for too much. I’m really disappointed as it looks to be a nice pice of equipment and very useful. Actually the box seems to me like a second hand item because it arrived damage. Not sure how to get a refund or a new one since I’m out of the US and sending back the box will cost me more than it’s own price. ... show more
