A lot of people are complaining that there is no Japanese audio track as it says on the box. This is true. But the overreaction is ridiculous. I was looking forward to hear the Japanese audio myself...but just as a novelty. I wasn't going to listen to every episode in Japanese...just enough to satisfy my curiosity. It is a legitimate gripe that the audio is missing...but come on...it's Speed Racer on Blu-ray! This set deserves 4 stars or better reviews. EDIT Statement from Funi about the issue can be found on line. It basically says that it was a printing error on their part. The DVD release does not have this error, and that there will be a Colectors Edition of Speed Racer as well as Mach GoGoGo later this year. So if you have not ordered you may want to hold off for a CE I just received my copy in the mail so lets take a look, and before I start I want to get it out of the way that this is the English Dub. The original is said to be coming out at a later date. That said lets continue. The set comes with a slip cover where everything on the front besides speed racer has a shimmer to it. The backs seem to be identical. On the outside of the package details state that the discs are Region A. There are two audio tracks both are Dolby True HD. One is English two channel mono, and the other is Japanese 2.0. However after looking at the Set Up Menu in Disc One there are no Audio choices it is just listed as English The video is listed as 1080P HD Native in 4.3 ratio. It also has English SDH. Inside the package there are pictures printed on the inside of the jacket, but it is not a reverse-able cover. All five discs contain the same art work. The discs have 12 episodes each except for the last one. There is no insert or booklet inside the case. Playing the first episode the the Trans Lux and copyright information seem to be gone. However the white Speed Racer logo is used. I am not sure if and how the ending was different between versions to compare those. There is a Play All, Episodes, and Set Up I looked at Disc One and Disc Five and could not find any special features. a little insert and/or some special features would have put it over the top for me. Skimming through the first episode visuals seem rather clean and sharp. There is of course a little mark here and there, but that is to be expected with how old everything is. This is a great way to experience the classic series. The only downside is that it does not include the original Japanese audio, but it might have been an issue with the rights. I will say, I did not remember so many drivers dying in this series. What a shock! Otherwise it is a really great way to see how many things we see today existed back in the 60’s as well. ... show more

    • A fun blast from the Past
These look great! The last time I saw speed racer I thought they were B&W, because my TV was B&W. I would avoid watching to many at one time. But fun in small doses. The DVD quality is excellent, the sound it really good. Some of the adventures have some really far out music. If you ever find your self said "Go Speed" or humming the song, or driving on curvy roads and saying "Oh oh OH" this is must for you. Did you know that 5 in Japanese, that is "五" is pronounced the same as the English word go. They are always saying "Go Speed Racer" and "Go Speed Go". The car is the Mach 5 - not a Coincidence. ... show more

It was something most kids adored after school in the 70's... I sure did. I don't remember seeing all the episodes so this will surely catch up. I hope they bring a colorized version of Prince Planet that I recently found was selling on eCrater in BLU RAY !!!
