Description

A rugged and durable waterproof boot to keep active feet warm, secure and dry in extremely cold weather. Featuring seam-sealing, a built-in gaiter, a molded EVA comfort footbed, a grippy outsole and 400g Thinsulate Ultra insulation. This rugged boot from Sorel is ideal for those who tend to find themselves in extreme conditions. Constructed from waterproof leather, the boot is seam- sealed to keep feet warm and dry. The built-in gaiter/bootie has an easy barrel-lock closure for walking in deep snow, and an Achilles adjustment strap which can be tightened to further provide ankle support for uneven terrain. The removable EVA comfort footbed reduces weight and adds thermal protection for long days in the cold. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Sorel's cold weather footwear is ideal for those participating in active winter sports like snowmobiling or sledding, or for activities where maximum protection is required -- like all-season hunting or fishing, or simply going to work. • Very happy with these boots
Very good quality from Sorel. I bought them a full size larger than my regular size. (12 instead of my normal size 11) A half size up would be good but 11 1/2 was not available. I find that cramping your foot into a pair of boots while wearing heavy socks reduces the warm you get from them. With that said these fit perfectly wearing a normal pair of wool socks so I think they run a bit small in size. These is no slippage in the heel and my feet are not sloshing around inside the boots. They are very warm. They do not have a felt liner like some Sorels. They have Thinsulate Ultra lining which I assume is a beefed up version of Thinsulate. It is very effective. I was concerned about some of the reviews I read that stated they rubber splits after some length of time so I researched that and found the number one cause of that to be UV rays and improper storage (sunlight and heat seem to be the main culprits). I would recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant over Armorall to maintain the rubber portions of these boots based on my findings. I also use a Maxx Dry XL boot dryer to keep all my boots dry inside after heavy use. keeping the insides dry after use keeps them smelling fresher and reduces fungus that may cause athlete's foot. It's too soon to judge about long term wear with these as I've only had them a week or so. My initial impression is that these will last a very long time with proper care. I absolutely love them so far! Hope this helps if you are considering buying a pair. ... show more

  • They did well in the cold and snow of Siberia
I bought these boots to handle "everyday" wear in Siberia. I just returned from two weeks in Tomsk, Russia where the temperature ranged from -25 degrees F to 20 degrees F with snow everywhere all the time and my feet were always dry and warm. I did a lot of walking (up to a mile at a time) and riding buses along with the rest of the local population. I slipped and fell once (I hit a patch of ice on a small slope because I wasn't paying attention) but otherwise had good stability in the constant snow and ice under foot. My son, who lives there and wears some Russian made shoe, frequently complained of his feet being cold even when he was wearing double pairs of socks. After the first couple of days in which I wore wool socks, I only wore regular crew socks and was still quite comfortable. They do not have the advantage of a side zipper which would make them easier to get off and on but I feel more than make up for it in stability and warmth for the extra minute or so it takes to put them on and take them off. I also feel like they were a great value given this price compared to other much more expensive boots. I think these boots were designed for a much more demanding environment (walking through woods and deep snow) than I used them for but I was very pleased. For perspective I have to confess that the local population get along fine without anything that looks as robust as this boot. No matter how cold is gets (down to about -35 F) they still get out and the vast majority walk and use public transportation and get along fine. The women even wear high heeled knee boots in the same stuff I was walking in and never miss a beat. But these met all the requirements of warmth, comfort and stability that I needed at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them. ... show more

  • BUYER BEWARE! Cheaper to buy another pair then to return/exchange these.
UPDATE: it will cost me $200 to return a pair of boots that I paid $108 for plus $40 shipping! Don't let the one star fool you. The boots seem well made and have a great look. They definitely seem that they would be warm too. I'm giving one star because after being on the fence about purchasing the price dropped to 108 so I ordered a half size bigger than my normal size 11 as most reviewers suggested and pulled the trigger. The boots arrived in record time and were way too small. I tried emailing the seller twice with no response so I contacted amazon to initiate a return (i really wanted an exchange) and was informed that on top of the $40 i spent on shipping i would have to pay the return shipping as well effectively making the boots cost roughly twice the original price. If i were to order a larger pair i would then have to pay yet another $40 shipping fee making the $100 boots $250!! Long story short, lesson learned and money wasted. I found the same boots from a store out of salt lake for a good price, free shipping and free returns. I wouldn't reccomend this seller if they were the last ones on Amazon. ... show more

  • Excellent show shoeing boots
I bought a pair of these around 8 or 9 years ago and finally decided to get a new pair after the shin draw string finally fell apart (with a little help from my dog). These are the most comfortable pair of hiking boots I’ve ever had! They are exceptionally warm and excellent for winter hiking and snow showing. I will admit that I had similar reservations as others after some of the stitching started to come apart around the toes after the first season, however after an additional 7 years of winter hiking the small gap between leather and rubber never widened and really had no significant impact on the integrity of the boots. The minor stitching defect does cause a slight drop in water resistance, however using the boots for anything active above about 20 or 25 degrees F makes you over heat quickly and I rarely came into contact with the wet sloppy conditions that would cause my feet to get wet. I cannot remember one instance my feet were ever cold even on over night trips when the temp dropped as low as -20. I really did love my old boots and after my first snow showing trip this season with my new ones I am very glad I bought a new pair. The only real draw back to these boots is that they are rated for -40 and using them for extended periods in conditions above freezing will cause your feet to overheat quickly, meaning you may need a slightly less warm pair of boots for the shoulder months. ... show more
