This boom arm works perfect for what I needed it for. The arm is very heavy duty, and will extend about 5 feet. I would recommend a fairly decent quality light stand, or even a C-stand for added support. Since I'm using a lightweight microphone, I'm using the included sand bag at the base of the tripod. For a heavier attachment consider using appropriate weight at the rear of the boom. Be sure to get a couple zip lock bags (I used gallon size) to put sand in. On the front there's 3 positions to hold the light stand adapter, and it can be rotated to any position. The light stand adapter has 3/8 and 1/4 male threads on opposite sides for mounting almost anything you might need. ... show more
