These over-the-ear headphones are very lightweight and comfortable to wear. They seemed to be designed to be operated while wearing them because they speak to you as you press the buttons, e.g. Power On/Off, Bluetooth Pairing/Connected/Disconnected, Noise Cancelling, Ambient Sound, etc. Press the power button briefly and it tells you the power level, hold the button a few seconds to turn on/off, and hold it for seven seconds to go into Bluetooth pairing mode. If you have Near Field Communications on your device, my cell phone has this capability, the Bluetooth connects and disconnects when held near the device. In the box are the headphones, and two cables: a headphone cable, and USB-A to USB-C cable. The USB cable is less that 8 inches, not sure why so short, it is difficult to plug into my charging transformer or computer. A 5-volt charging transformer is not included and it is not clear the desired wattage. It did take 7 hours to charge initially. It is listed as having a 35-hour playback time on a charge. The sound quality is very good, I play my music at very high fidelity and these headphones are handling the music exceedingly well. One thing that I wish Sony included is a case for the headphones. There are third-party cases available online. These headphones seem to provide many of the features of Sony’s higher end headphones at a more modest price point. I would certainly recommend them for everyday use. I tested the tree modes; Ambient, Noise Cancelling, and Off. We live on a busy street with much traffic, cars and heavy trucks, which was a perfect setting for the test. Noise Cancelling mode did a great job compensating for the exterior noise, the traffic is loud, and I could barely hear it. As expected in Ambient mode the microphones passed through the street sounds with the music, good if I were walking around and needed to also hear what is going on in the environment and listen to the music. Ambient off turns off the microphones so there is no pass-through sound, so it will depend on the outside volume and your music volume as to how much outside sound you hear. Ambient off also means that Noise Cancelling is off, so if you do not like the compensation that noise cancelling provides, this is your mode. I need to also disclose that I did receive these headphones at a discount in exchange for my honest review. I've had these headphones for over four years now, and they still work as well as the day I bought them. The battery holds up great, and the build quality is excellent. The sound quality is impressive, and the noise canceling is highly effective. For the price, they're hard to beat!

These are pretty nice for $100 or so. I've never tried active noise canceling, so this was a pretty amazing experience when I turned em on inside of a car. First things first. Sound quality. It's ok. I wouldn't give it any marks, it's just alright. Not bad, not spectacular. It also varies depending on what noise mode you're on. Comfort is alright. But sometimes the plastic inside the ear pokes on my ears. It's not super annoying, but I feel it a lot of the time and it's sort of awkward. Otherwise, my ears are cupped pretty good. Only had these for a day now, but I'm pretty satisfied. It's plastic, but it feels pretty good. It's kind of shady how they say it's worth $180, but almost always on discount. I've only ever seen this on sale for $90, and I wouldn't suggest these if we were going by the 'full' price. Otherwise, they're dandy at $90. Updated : These are horrendously uncomfortable on my ears. The inside has these jagged parts that just poke at your ear if you don't have small ones. The plastic creeks too, and it's very audible while you're walking around. It is extremely annoying. I have them on right now and it's doing it just by me moving my mouth a little. When using noise canceling, it sometimes sounds like one ear is louder than the other by just a slight bit. My biggest gripe is just the comfort. I like the headphones, but I absolutely hate how they feel on my ear. ... show more

Music and video calls sound right, and sound excellent. But they start working the moment I put them on, not even connected to a video call or music, cutting down and cutting out the office background noise. Over the last year of Covid, working from home with daily constant video calls, i used a set of M***, a lare headphone company from Chine at a budget price. * I would hear music and voices clearly - but the Sony WHCH710Ns sound 100 times better, better voices, rich music. * The M***'s were very comfortable to wear all day, while wearing my glasses. This was the main reason for buying that set. Good for all day wearing at home - These Sony ones press in a little too tight for wearing more than an hour at a time for me, with a head circumference of XXX. Comfortable for wearing for video calls, but not all day. * The microphone in my old headphones was unusable. The microphone in the Sony works great, very clear to people on the other end of video calls. It is very sensitive though. It picks up everyone else talking nearby too, so I usually switch to the webcam microphone that is pointing at me. I got mine from amazon warehouse (at a great price), and are comparing them to a year using a budget set. I am delighted I upgraded to these.
