Enjoyed painting my "Barely Sunrise" painting; except, be careful not to get the perimeter of canvas wet because if to wet the panel board will soften like cardboard.

These compressed paper boards are economical with a textured work surface (much like vellum) and are particularly nice for collage, but also good for various kinds of prelim work -- sketches, studies, first drafts, improvisational pieces or trial runs of work that will later be done on different surfaces or in larger formats. The boards handle many media (collage as noted, acrylics, pencil/markers, crayons/paint sticks, charcoal, oil pastels), but probably less suited to very wet media (heavy acrylics, gels, heavy or layered matte medium, watercolor, etc.), all of which will have a higher tendency to warp the boards. I don’t ever write reviews like this, but this was not what I was expecting. Was cheap white cardboard basically. Each one had dirty spots on them. Would not recommend. Paid way too much when my kids could have painted on paper or cardstock for this quality.

I was very disappointed when these arrived as they first, are not canvas, they are cardboard with paper fixed to it. Second every board is either dirty with smudges or black spots on the side to be used. The price is not even close to the product I received. I wrote the seller explaining in detail why I felt the advertising is misleading and I was not happy. I was written back only this.."you may open a return request. This product is exactly as described as it is a canvas panel board." That was it. I wrote before I even realized they were all dirty on the usable side. On the paper they came with it's says "canvas-like paper". The ones I received are like thick printer paper on cardboard. I was so put off by the customer service, I didn't return them nor will I purchase from them again. ... show more
