I was a little bit put off by reading the lengthy instruction booklet, but this is the simplest device to use! Plug it in, remove the cover, and get to flashing! There are two modes, steady flash or manual solo flashes. Once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty quick. I can do both of my legs and my armpits in about 8 minutes . The steady flash upon initial use is very quick, but after using it for about 30 seconds, it starts to slow down to about one flash per second. I used it for 12 weeks and definitely noticed it slowed down my hair growth. Painless. If you forget to shave beforehand & there's some hair growth, you'll get a quick zap, but it's not painful per se, just surprising. Definitely need to try this out! ... show more

This is really easy to use. I am a little skeptical at first but it has been working well for me. I took a good time to review this product to make sure that it works. First of all, it is small, portable. It ready to work right out the box. Very easy to do, plug it in and let it zap the hair follicles. Do it every few weeks to make sure that your hair follicles in the area are all dead. I tried it for a few weeks. I do it once a week on my knuckle to see if the hair come back. After a few weeks, I notice some hair still come back but much much less than before. It is not a comfortable feeling. It burns a little when you zap yourself. Not bad enough to worry about but I hate the feeling of having those little zaps. Not sure if I wanted to use it on other soft area. My friend recommended me to use Vaseline before using to help with the burn. I haven’t tried. Overall, affordable machine to get rid of hair. I rate it 7/10 in term of effectiveness. However, it only covers a small area each zap, will need to take some time to get the area covered. Very time consuming ... show more

I've used another IPL device on my tough facial hairs and had good results with it. I decided to try this one to see if I could make some progress on the more stubborn remaining hairs, and it's worked well on some of those. I have definitely noticed that some of the hairs I thought would never go away have started to disappear. It seems like some have started growing in finer also: I don't know if that's part of what a laser can do, so it might be my bias showing. I'm happy with this IPL device and will continue using it . It seems very gentle and doesn't have any settings or ways to adjust it, so I'm glad I had a more powerful device to get started on. This one is easy to use and really gentle, so it's a nice option for ongoing use or for less challenging hair removal projects. ... show more

I have reviewed a LOT of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices at this point. And, frankly, most of them are very similar. So when one isn't like all the others, it really stands out. This one is not like all the others. What makes it different? The refractory rate. That's the rate between light pulses. For most of these IPL devices, there's a 2-4 second interval between light pulses, as the device recharges. Since you need to apply many pulses in a treatment session, that can add up. This IPL device, on the other hand, is capable of nearly two pulses per second. This is not just PR. I tested it and you can very obviously observe the difference. It's quite amazing, actually, how much more efficient this IPL device is that most of the others. On the downside, the pulses are just 3 J/cm^2 in power, which is on the moderate side as IPL devices go (some max out at 6-7 j/cm2). So you are getting faster pulses, but lower power pulses. Specifics of this IPL device: ** Only performs hair removal. ** NO ICE skin cooling functionality ** No LCD screen. ** No user-adjustable power levels. ** "Oblong" shaped unit--a bit cumbersome in the hand ** The power supply is permanently attached to the IPL device. ** No on/off switch. You turn it on/off by plugging/unplugging it ** No attachments to change the flash end shape ** Rated for an "unlimited" number of flashes. Operation is trivial: Hold it flat against your skin and press the big button on top. You can keep the button held for fast multi-flashing. This is most simple IPL device I've tested. No LCD screen. No buttons (except the flash button). Not even an on/off switch. Using very slow-motion photography, I was able to capture a snapshot of the light (see photos). The light duration is extremely short. You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you only get the IPL tool with attached power supply, and a short cable that connects the power supply to AC wall power. That's pretty bare bones as these kits go, but, honestly, you don't really need the cheap sunglasses or disposible razor that are usually tossed in. (I would recommend wearing a pair of sunglasses while using this, just to protect your eyes). Overall, this IPL offers superior flash speed, up to twice a second, but with lower power than many. You'll need to decide if that trade-off is valuable to you. I got this tool for my wife, and while it has some promising features, our overall experience has been mixed. Firstly, this device is only FDA cleared, meaning it relies on test results provided by the company rather than independent verification. I haven't used this yet because the instruction manual weirded me out. To be honest, I'm not sure I'll ever try it. It didn't give me confidence in the product and made me feel like I should just go to a professional.
