We purchased these years ago for our son. He wore them EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. They seriously looked better over time (which is amazing for kid’s boots that usually scratch up on the toe box). They are now being worn by our daughter every single day and are still going strong. We just purchased the next size up so we have them when the current size gets too small. I think these are the perfect boots for little ones who can’t yet tie their shoes. They can independently slip them on and off (no need to unzip the zipper). They go through puddles and dirt like a champ. They keep playground sand and mulch out (unlike tennis shoes). And they’re super durable! We have these in a size 9 (left) and a size 8 (right) my toddler can wear these for hours and never complains , seems to really love the boots. They are cute and authentic and we’ve gotten lots of compliments on them. Will buy again!

After only 3 days of my toddler wearing them and not even wearing them outside but to walk to the car they started to peel! I’m requesting my money back and returning them. I’ll never buy this brand again!

    • R size is a bit more narrow than D width?

I couldn't find a 9D to order so I ordered the 9R - I have never heard of "R" size before. This is the 4th pair of the hopalong boots I've bought and all of the previous sizes have been marked "D". According to what I could find researching online, both "D" and "R" are regular widths. I couldn't find anything about "D" or "R" sizing directly from Smoky Mountain, which just added to my confusion. I placed these next to my 8D's I have and the R just seems a bit narrow across the toe box in comparison. My toddler says they are comfortable, but since the toe box is stiff, I can't really feel where his fat little foot is in there and I have my doubts about the sizing. Ultimately after deliberating about what to do all week, I decided to return the R size since I did end up finding a 9D to order. If your child doesn't have wide feet where you might be concerned about the fit, I highly recommend these boots. They are super cute and durable. The zipper is a great feature in the smaller sizes when kids need help putting the boots on. I've noticed as my child has gotten older, we don't don't use the zipper feature at all anymore, but I keep ordering this model boot since I love it so much. ... show more
