The box looks very nice, and the hardware is pretty good. The lid stays open, which is very nice. It arrives in a box, and for some reason has a gift bag inside the box. The key is in a small velvet bag inside. When it arrived, there was a problem with the lock. It was made or installed incorrectly, as the pin in the center was too low, and the key could only go in at a downward angle, and wouldn’t turn. However, I asked for a return, and received a new one promptly. This one seems to lock fine. I worry that it might not be entirely durable, but so far so good! I bought this box to put my husband ashes in. He died June 23, 2023 right next to me in bed at night of cardiac arrest at age 60. This box is very special & important to me, I loved him so... It is absolutely beautiful, well made, truly love the different shades of wood, as he would old have like, simple but elegant & smart looking, great hardware & terrific finish. I don’t usually write reviews but when I saw this box & opened it, I surely thought I would be disappointed but instead it took my breathe away. I had a personalized brass plate made for the top, and gave this to my 11 year old grandson at Christmas. He’s just getting old enough to want some privacy from little sister and seemed to appreciate it. Hopefully a gift he will keep over the years. Well made and attractive.

Product just arrived today and for the most part I am pleased for the cost. Here's a few pros and cons after unboxing. Pros: solid - the box itself doesn't feel cheaply made. I am pleased with the size as it is exactly as described. Nice finished on the wood Now here is the one con that I found that was the deciding factor on giving this 4 stars: The locking mechanism was misaligned and I have to insert the key at an angle in order to get the lock to function. Also - the latch that secures the box was also misaligned slightly and I need to put quite a bit of pressure in order for it to latch properly. This is a pretty significant flaw in the product, and I think there should be some following up on the quality control. I probably wouldn't purchase this again for the simple fact that I can't trust the quality. ... show more
