Description

ABOUT SYNTHETIC MICA Fluorophlogopite, also known as synthetic mica, is a man- made mica that closely resembles its natural mineral counterpart mined from the earth. Smooth in texture and extra vibrant in hue, synthetic micas are a wonderful alternative to natural micas. Synthetic micas are widely used in crafts, cosmetics, paints, and more. PARTICLE SIZE INFORMATION Slice of the Moon carries mica options that range from 5 µm to 500 µm. The smaller the particle size in micrometers or microns (µm) the more fine the powder and the more coverage or hiding power. Conversely, the larger the particle size the more coarse the powder which provides more of a glittering effect. The larger particles provide less coverage or hiding power and have generally more luster. Creating your own cosmetics? When it comes to cosmetics, especially for those intended to be applied around the eyes, the smaller the particle size the better (roughly 150µm or less). Slice of the Moon mica powders are fine to ultra fine in size, with most all being well suited for bronzer, highlighter, coloring for lotion, body butter, and other cosmetic applications. MIXING PIGMENTS Whether it’s creating your own vibrant watercolor pigments, adding a bit of a golden hue to a sunscreen, or making your own resin pigment paste, mica pigments are a great way to achieve your preferred color! As a general rule, we recommend adding a very small amount at a time to your base or medium. Repeat as needed to achieve your desired hue. Other applications include: —Pigment for slime —Coloring bath soap, bath bomb, or salt —Making your own non-toxic nail polish

  • oddly sticky
Color: Bronze Blue Green
came so quickly which i loved but when i took it out of the plastic packaging, there was something sticky and it soaked into part of the label and spots over the container. when i opened it though it was still sealed so it was like someone who was packaging to ship dropped coffee or a soda and didnt do a quick clean on it. ... show more

  • Good Stuff
Color: Shimmer Gold
Makes beautiful sparkly honey glycerin soap. I added 1 drop of brown dye and beautiful results. It flickers from the fingers well to if you want to add sparkle to the top of your candles.

  • Pretty, but not matte like it appears to be
Color: Satin White
I’m giving this 5 stars because it is a good mica and it’s not their fault that I overlooked where it said it had shimmer. So there’s that. It’s really pretty and will be useful in the future but as for right now it was not what I was looking for. To help out others that may be in the same boat: I was looking for a flat total matte white and have had trouble finding it so I have resorted to using either straight cornstarch or cornstarch baby powder for when I want to make my resin opaque and not risk using too much paint or liquid colorant that the resin won’t cure. ... show more

  • Too small
Color: Rose Pink
so I'm not going to give this product a lot of stars only because it showed up very small and when you look at the picture it looks big it's misleading but a little bit goes a long way I use it for my lipgloss and it's a very pretty color in the future will buy again just next time I know. That I will only receive a little jar ... show more

  • Can be used for makeup and art
Color: Classic Gold
This is a great powder. I got more of the white-gold one years ago when someone introduced it to me as something that could be used in art/paint. It can also be used as makeup and it’s very pretty! Translucent, sparkly/shimmery. I did use it for art and ended up having a sparkly car interior for a very long time on accident haha, didn’t bother me ... show more

  • Lovely and low impact. Recommended!
Color: Flashing Blue
I have been having such fun with this glitter! First, I chose this brand because most glitter is microplastic and very harmful to critical food chain base animals. This glitter is colored mica according to the description, and biodegradable or neutral. I try to make my fun neutral impact so that was key to deciding. The stuff itself is fine, soft, powder with an intense shimmery color. I use a makeup brush to brush it into my hair for vivid mermaid highlights and it does an amazing job. I have gotten lots of compliments! I definitely recommend this for low impact but high results fun. ... show more
