Very cute but certainly not a real violin. We bought the blue 1/10 in lieu of a (cardboard) box violin until our kiddo grows into the 1/8 violin we already have. The bow doesn’t make any noise on the strings, however, even after using the rosin. That’s a real bummer. As a box violin, it does the trick. This small violin is OK for our beginner 6 year old. She just wanted to "play" with it. The 4th string was a little loose, but able to tighten. As beginners, there are no instructions. I had to go on line to understand what the rosin was for. Once applied, now she gets some violin sounds. If you want a good violin, this in not for you. Update. I would rate this a ZERO if I could. The one string was loose upon arrival and never really performed after tightening. Then after minimal play (maybe 6 times for 5 min each) the next string came completely off the peg. No way for me to put it back on. Notified manufacturer and I pursued a refund and return. However, since this was after the 30 day Amazon policy, the manufacturer would not issue one. Very very poor customer relations. I would recommend to stay way from this product and manufacturer. ... show more

I’ve been meaning to send this item back. I believe this is a toy. Doesn’t sound off. I played violin in middle school and this thing works nothing like a violin.
