Description

From cutting shelving to mitering trim, the SKIL 5080 7-1/4 inch Circular saw is a great entry-level saw in the home workshop. The 13 amp motor has the power and performance that you need, and the improved dust blower keeps line of cut free from sawdust for accurate cuts. An adjustable bevel up to 51 degrees, with positive stop at 45 degrees, lets you make a wider variety of cuts. Blade changes are easy with the Spindle Lock and blade wrench, stored on the tool. The 5080 includes an 18 tooth carbide blade.

This saw replaced an old Craftsman that died shortly after starting this job. I got the new Skil at a bargain price of $39.98 + tax. So far I have used it to cut many 16"x16"x2"(thick) cement pavers with a diamond blade. That's super heavy duty usage with a large quantity of cement dust prone to clog the machine (this ruined the Craftsman, but it was 25 years old). It has worked great for this application and showed no signs a serious distress one would expect from a cheap unit under such duress. One key limitation is the lack of a laser guide. This unit has an "old-style" sight guide. I wanted the laser guide and it was available for an extra $15-20. The reason I didn't get it is because it was not available for next day delivery and I was in the middle of a job when my old saw died. The laser guide, while a little expensive given the price of the unit, greatly enhances the accuracy of the cuts, especially when cement dust is obscuring the tracking view. With the sight guide I was "off-track" more often that I wish to admit, which compromises the quality and accuracy of the cuts. I give it a 5-star rating in consideration of its excellent value (price per performance), but an overall 4-star rating otherwise, and a 3-star rating for "accuracy." Can't go wrong buying this saw! It's solid as hell, it cuts straight lines and it cuts like butter (with the right blade of course) Comfortable to use and feels solid against cutting surface. Can't beat this little saw for the price so get it and thank me later

I bought those to replace an older Skil that I stupidity dawg through the cord. Price was pretty closer to what I paid for thre old one 30 years ago. This one has more plastic parts, butt that makes it lighter abed easier to use. Over made quite a few cuts with it now, and it gets the job done.

Great saw, and has lots of power. The end of the cord locks onto itself making storage much easier. The only downfall I've encountered is the Zero mark on the blade's cut location. If you follow the zero, your cut will be about a 1/4 inch off. I would repurchase this.
