    • It's A Good Start

As a beginner, I needed something simple that would let me play around with different pencil hardnesses and colors. This does well. There are several black pencils of varying degrees of hardness, which allows me to learn what each can do. This is something I never even thought about until I decided to sketch. There is a generous number of colors, which again allows me to experiment, find out what these do. When rolled up, you can carry this around easily - it's lightweight and compact. When you open it up, you can see all the various pencils and other items. There is one annoying feature, though. The pencils are held by elastic bands, which don't offer much holding power. When rolled up this doesn't cause problems; but if you unroll the pencils and happen to turn them the wrong way, they'll fall out without much resistance. A minor but annoying little quirk. Overall, though, I'm pleased with these. Would recommend; might buy again, but might also try to find one that holds the pencils more firmly. ... show more
