  • Not real leather.
Size: 10 X-Wide Color: Black
The package was destroyed when I received it. A pair of heavy boots in an Amazon bag. Yeah, that's going to work. The boots fit fine. Squeak. Hmm. Not real leather. Amazon website states 100% leather. Nope. Leather balance a.k.a not real leather. Looks like vinyl and squeak like a cheap pair of fake leather boots. No more Skechers for me. Done with that company. I've returned too many boots from Skechers back to Amazon because they look cheap and are so uncomfortable I can't seem to figure out why they are still in business. They use to make great shoes. ... show more

  • Hard to get a good fit + design flaws = lots of pain and blisters.
Size: 12 Color: Black
Back when I did less walking in general, this had been my boot of choice, but I'd been wearing the wrong size (unknown to me, I thought it was normal to buy tight shoes and 'break them in' which generally meant suffering with a bad fit for awhile until suddenly it felt really comfy, right before the shoe fell apart). When I took up more hiking, I got hooked up on expensive hiking boots of the proper size, but the soles didn't last long, and I felt I was overpaying for shoes that didn't last. The soles on this boot lasted a long time, so I thought with my new knowledge of proper fitting, I should try this boot out again and see if I could get something durable for less. My experiment proved very painful! Four big problems with this boot: 1) there's a horizontal seam above the heel cup that scrapes away at my ankle (the seam was the same on both boots, but the scraping was much more severe on my right ankle, probably due to some personal asymmetry on my part or some difference in in gait between feet). 2) there's an extremely stiff, sharp ridge around the boot where the sole connects, so if your foot is even just a hair wide at any point, the shoe is completely unforgiving, pinching hard at the point where you are wide. Ordering a wide size (from Zappos, as I didn't see the wides on Amazon, even though Zappos is an Amazon company), however, to compensate for the very slight width problem in the ball of my foot got me shoes with very wide heels, so that there was no good way to lace it up and feel like I wasn't sliding around. This won't be a problem if you have narrow feet, but if you run even just a little wide, this boot is unforgiving. 3) Sketcher's sizing seems all over the board. Normally I wear a 12, while in the Sketcher's hiking boot, I found a 13 fit fairly well, where in this boot to go down to 11.5 and I still had a lot of extra length in the toe... 4) While you might be able to stretch this out or break it in, the leather upper wants to flex down hard on your toes with every step, pinching leading to soreness and/or blisters after a moderate walk. Some of this damage may relate to my inability to get a size that fits right, and some might be inherent problems that lots of shoes with a one piece leather upper face. I love the look and price point of this boot and really wanted to like it. But a week of trying out different sizes (some of which I can't return due to too much wear) has left my feet a wreck of soreness and blisters. ... show more

  • don't buy these! don't get suckered in by the good reviews!
Size: 10.5 Color: Black
Bought in March, they fit poorly. They gave me the largest blisters ever, same as others have said. I bought boxes of heel bandaids and ended up buying a heel insert to raise my foot up above the seam that was rubbing me raw. They squeak when you walk... very loudly it's embarrassing. Now they have started to blow out in the rear. I check here to see if there is any kind of warranty (no by the way) and look at the bad reviews and see that I am not alone. The rear blowing out, the cheap squeaky sound, and the blisters! 60 days is horrible. I got 10 years out of my pair of timberland boots. Hated how they were uncomfortable but at least they lasted! ... show more

  • Guess I know never to buy Skechers now.
Size: 12 Wide Color: Black
I can't for a moment believe any of the 4/5 star reviewers wore these for more than 5 minutes before writing their reviews - these shoes are terrible - the general fit isn't awful, but the inner back and neck of the boot will DESTROY your heel and ankle. The small leather plate at the back of the heel is not sewn close enough to its edge, so the edge of that hard plate will catch and rub the back of your heel with every step you take. The angle of the back of the boot is ridiculously extreme, which causes it to aggressively scrape the back of your ankle - it LOOKS like soft padding at the top, but that will not make a difference to your ankle. I wanted to give the shoes time to break in, but I have wasted nearly $70 on band-aids, moleskin, and shoe-stretchers (devices and sprays) to absolutely no avail, and nothing I do makes these insanely painful and damaging shoes fit any better. If these weren't the only pair of shoes I owned that kept my feet dry on my 30 minute walks to/from work every day, I would have returned them in a heartbeat. ... show more

  • Nice boots but not very comfortable.
Size: 9 Color: Black
I cannot say that I love these boots since they are somewhat uncomfortable. They look good, but the comfort reminds me of my old black combat boots that were issued to me in Basic. If there are any arch supports they aren't high enough to be noticed and it is a good thing that I am not on my feet all day since the cushioning is basically non-existent. When I selected these boots it was based on the Sketchers brand name since comfort is what I thought what they were about. ... show more

  • THE INSIDE OF THE LEFT BOOK CUT MY PINKY TOE
Size: 9.5 X-Wide Color: Black
Last year I bought these shoes to use for the winter months. Last week I went to put them on FOR THE FIRST TIME and I felt a pinch on my pinky toe in the left shoe. At first I thought it was the wrong size but I checked and it was right>> 9.5 extra wide which is the same size Skechers Men's Pilot Utility Boot I have worn for years. This is my 3rd pair. Normally I order direct from the company but this time it looked like I could save some money by going with Amazon. I wore them outside to see if I could break team in but it only got worse. When I got home, I put my finger in the shoe to feel around and felt the bolt on the outside where my pinky toe meets the shoe had a sharp point exposed. It was as if the inside part of the bolt/button had not been flattened out at the factory. I took it to my shoe repair shop and they fixed it however I find it "amazing" that that would slip by Skechers quality control. I have a wide foot and have been wearing their shoes and sneakers for years and never once did I have an issue like this. I guess AMAZON buys the REJECTS from Skechers and sells them at a discount. That is fine as long as the buyer is made aware. Going forward I am going back to the manufacturer and buy direct. I love AMAZON and have been using you for years but maybe things like shoes are not a good idea. Your loyal customer now and in the future! ... show more
