I have been looking for a mobile & modular box system different than every other technician uses (Plastic boxes or the red Packout drawers) and these boxes fit my needs. Looking for shop boxes that could handle welding spatter, greasy environment or dirty shop conditions & be repainted. I have lots of graphics/ vinyl, airbrush measurement, application and art tools that needed to fit inside an off-road, large wheeled cart. Most typical tool boxes are too tall for this and too heavy to be considered portable. These are small enough to manage loaded and broken down into separate parts if needed to pack smaller (truck bed w/o lift gate/ hatch back ect). I wanted boxes w better security than the Milwaukee Packouts which are lighter but not as robust but better for moisture / wet tools... but everyone has those and they're harder to paint/ customize. I was happy to find the SK set I received were keyed alike. These are also one of the only systems that you have a few options for the large compartment and the small drawer and large drawer combo which the MP have only recently been released but Milwaukee still have not made a large single drawer option. ... show more

This is my review of SK Modular Stackable Storage Toolbox, 20.5 Inch, 2-Door Steel Box. I use this box to store and transport my grinding wheels and other blades. It works perfectly for this purpose. The build quality is good with sturdy walls and a strong top. It is easy to carry with the handles. The top provides an area that is recessed to place items, while working, to prevent them from rolling off. The lock keeps the doors closed but does not provide the most secure feeling, it is more of a “keeping the honest people honest” situation. This is a pretty solid tool box. It's on the smaller side, so only for small tools, but it's fairly lightweight yet sturdy. The draw slides are smooth and feel more on the premium side than the cheap side. Construction of the unit is not particularly wobbly or loose. I feel like I could stand on this without damaging it. I probably wouldn't make it a habit or use it as a step stool, but as long as you are careful, I think it would survive without a problem. It hold my drill and other small tools outside. It hasn't rusted yet, but it hasn't been out long. I will update if it prematurely starts to rust or otherwise deteriorate. It's a good upper-mid tier tool chest! ... show more

    • Works well to move storage boxes

Solid, sturdy rolling base designed for tool box sections to stack and lock on. I am so impressed with the the design and durability of this rolling base, I am considering getting some of the tool box sections as well. There are metal rings built into the base near each wheel. With some ratchet tie downs I was able to secure various sized storage boxes to be moved from a storeroom, across a facility campus, into a building and then into a newly remodeled activity room. Thresholds were not the most fun; but, the base did make it over them with a bit of persistence. I do not know for certain the exact total weight on the base, but I do know it was somewhere between 250 and 350 lbs. The only challenge I faced in moving this load across asphalt, concrete, and (I don’t know what they are called, but know they are very bumpy) pebble top concrete tiles (2 foot square with wide grout lines between), was getting the base up and over the thresholds (building and room entrance/exit). The point is it did go over the thresholds, without upsetting the load, and without completely exhausting me (for reference: F mid 50s). This base is strong and reliable. ... show more

SK knocked it out of the park with this new line of tool storage and transport components. This tool box is thoughtfully designed and meticulously constructed. I cannot see a sharp edge or any significant flaw anywhere. It is made from steel and aluminum. It locks and is rated to handle up to 60 pounds.
