Initially, I didn’t find any slit on the outer package, and I needed a pair of scissors to open it. Later, I watched the video on the product page and saw that there is a slit on the bottom of the package that is used to open one side. The coffee packet inside does have a well perforated top that was easily removed. After doing this, it is a simple but time-consuming matter of spreading the “wings” over the sides of your glass and repeatedly filling the pouch with hot water, waiting each time for the water to filter through the coffee. The coffee smelled and tasted like good, fresh French Roast: bold, dark roasted beans with burnt notes. The pour-over filter bags are well filled with ground coffee and open wide enough to pour water in without difficulty. The “wings” seem flexible and sturdy enough to work with cups that are either smaller or even a little larger than the 3.2” diameter mug I use. You’ll want to either use these over a sink or have a small bowl nearby so that the pouch can be removed from the coffee cup without making a mess: The bottom of the pouch will be sitting in coffee once your mug is filled to within about 2” from the rim. I don’t recommend these for home use, but they are a compact, light, and relatively convenient way to have quality coffee when camping or traveling. These pour-over coffee packs are great to have for many reasons. I have used this style of coffee prep for years and I love it. First of all just know that these only fit on a pretty standard mug size. Think about 12 ounces. They will work on most disposable cups. Just don't try to fit them on a really large mug because it won't work. These are good for power outages when the coffee pot won't work. I have also made these available for guests who loved them. I love taking them camping because of how small they pack and the minimal waste. They are also great for hotel rooms and other travel situations. The convenience makes this an ok value. I wouldn't use these every day for the cost. But when it comes to compact coffee prep these are the best. ... show more

Pour over methods of making coffee is my preferred route, and I've always wanted to try the disposable variations of coffee cones. This product is made well, and I can tell that it's great if you're traveling or participating in an outdoor activity. The coffee is well-portioned and the side flaps can fit well over any cup. That being said, using a standard mug made it hard for me to decipher how much coffee was already in my cup after filtering through. The filter holding the grounds sits low, so it's possible to over or underfill as you're pouring hot water. If you have a taller travel mug, you might have better luck determining the liquid amounts. ... show more

This Little White Box Pourover Coffee in a Pack has a nifty design. Opening up the outer packet, I was hit with a delicious aroma of fresh ground coffee. The inner packet is a coffee filter filled with ground coffee. It has an easily removable by hand perforated top. You then pull on these two little cardboard arm things and hand them over the sides of your coffee mug. And then pour hot water directly on the coffee grounds and watch the freshly brewed coffee drip into your mug. I'm really impressed by both the concept and the design. I was surprised by how strong and sturdy the cardboard arms are. They held strong without me having to hold them in place as I poured hot water in. I like that this involves less plastic than a k-cup. I don't love that the outer packet appears to be plastic. If they could figure out a way to make that outer packet biodegradable, that would be awesome. The coffee itself isn't spectacular but it's not bad. I enjoyed it. This seems perfect for camping or for travel, especially if where you're travelling to doesn't have a kcup machine. The packets definitely pack neater than a kcup. When you first open up the sealed package it smells really good. The coffee itself is of high quality, it's real smooth tasting, not a lot of bitterness. The little bag with it's little arms is cute. First time I tried it - I put it underneath the Keurig and I ran the tiniest possible cup twice and that was able to give me like a normal size cup of coffee maybe slightly more. The only problem with that method is that once the little pouch of coffee gets full to the top it can overflow and get loose grounds in your cup of coffee. The instructions on the bag did make it clear that I was supposed to pour over, but I didn't have a spare cup and I only had the Keurig, so I tried the Keurig so the results are on me. Second time I came prepared, I got a second cup to pour water from. It went splendidly - very easy to avoid grounds spilling over and the brew came out great. It yielded about 12oz of coffee. Overall I can say this is great for at work, where I don't have my normal coffee kit. I strongly recommend if you have similarly odd circumstances regularly, but still need a quality cup of coffee.
