  • A simple stand alone chart plotter!
Size: 9-inch
Chart plotters have gotten more sophisticated and complicated over recent years, especially with all the networking that can be done. This has led to more difficulty in using them for casual crew members and even distracted skippers. The Simrad Cruise series offers a very capable but simple stand alone option. I cruise and race a 10 meter sloop off the Pacific Northwest and while I have a network system with gps chart plotter, VHF and race instruments all linked up in the forward cockpit I am installing the Simrad Cruise 9 at the helm and independently of the main nav system. I will have clear and simple info on position, course, speed and depth without burdening my crew with running the “network ” under often stressful race or weather conditions. Having two independent systems will add safety and redundancy as well. The pricing at under $400 US for a 9 inch screen is amazing value for a respected brand. Too bad the screen cover seems so expensive…. ... show more

  • Love the operational options on the SIMRAD 9
Size: 9-inch
We installed the unit in a little over two hours. Very easy installation, but what I am excited about are all the options this unit has, and it is comparable to units costing a thousand dollars. Colors and contrast are excellent and changeable. The plotter has so may features and dose the depth and fish finder. Excited to get started using all the features and YouTube Videos, I cannot thank them enough. Watching the video opened all the capabilities this unit has. Love it way more than my previous unit, which gave me years of dependable service, but this unit has so many additional features. I highly recommend this unit, if you're considering an excellent map plotter, sonar, fish finder, and simplicity in operation. ... show more

  • Overall I like it
Size: 9-inch
This is my first chart plotter so I wasn't sure what to expect or how to use it. I am starting to become familiar with it and liking it so far. I do wish it had some programable buttons for favorite routes like my buddies Garman has but it is what it is.

  • Fairly easy to use
Size: 9-inch
I installed it myself, and I’m not a pro. I used the mounting bracket that was included. The most ‘difficult’ part for me was hooking the power cable up to the boat. The wires are small, and I had to be careful when skinning them. I used two ring connectors (not included) to attach the wires to the screws on the boat. The transducer wire was adequate length for my boat (an Eastern Sisu 22). Rather than drill screw holes in the transom to mount the transducer, I bought a ‘stick-on’ mounting block, and put the screws into it. I’m learning to use the unit, and it seems to be user-friendly. ... show more

  • Fantastic Product.
Size: 9-inch
Handles the gulf like a champion, Navigates like a pro, and gives very accurate directions. I have not used the fish finder because I have a separate system for that. very easy to use and always a 5bar signal on the gulf. Never loses track of where you are and gives even a turn by turn with a split screen of both chart and nav! All around.. a VERY good product and wonderful 9" display to greatly see at night! Bravo! ... show more

  • Defective unit, horrible customer service
Size: 9-inch
I have previously owned a Cruise 7 and loved it, so I purchased a Cruise 9 for my new boat. The unit I received was defective with some sort of issue with the internal GPS antenna preventing the unit from receiving GPS signal. Simrad’s customer support has been horrendous. I have sent many emails, submitted warranty claims, and spent hours on hold— the most recent hold was 3.5 hours before finally talking to customer service. All this to still have the boat down due to a defective unit and the issue unresolved by Simrad. When they function it’s a wonderfully simple unit but I would not wish this experience on anyone. Hopefully Simrad will ultimately correct this issue, however in the interim my boat is unusable. ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 9-inch
Replacing a smaller gps and this one is way better as far as size and functions. I only wish it had came with a cover

  • Bottom
Size: 9-inch
I don’t usually write reviews but I ran 30 to 40 mph and this fish finder never failed to read bottom. It read bottom the whole time while running.
