  • 📸 Beginner Advice: Consider the CROP sensor
First off, this lens is great for added sharpness, bokeh, and quick autofocus. The rumors are true this is a great prime lens and really improves your photography. Most amateur photographers will want the 16mm, 24mm, or 30mm (if not all) for a prime (no zoom) lens. However, if you have the Sony a6400 or similar models you HAVE TO consider the crop sensor. This lens will NOT be a true 30mm width lens on a crop sensor camera. You have to times the MM by about 1.5 to get the "true" lens size. This will be more of a 45mm on a crop sensor camera (like the A6400). This is NO FAULT to Sigma or this lens since this will be a true 30mm on a full-size sensor camera (like on the Sony A7iii). I had to learn this the hard way so I figured I'd point this out to those looking to replace the kit lens on their Sony A6000s series camera. This lens is one you can use with various Sony cameras and I would recommend the Sigma brand as I've used them heavily with Canon (now Sony) camera. No complaints. I hope this review helps :) ... show more

  • Insane lens!!!
I recently got a Sony A6000 from my girlfriend for Christmas and this was the first lens on my list to buy, and I gotta say it was worth every single penny. The autofocus is extremely fast, the sharpness top tier, and the colors pop! I've used it for a few portrait shots and it adds a nice amount of bokeh {though the 56mm is better for portraits, this is a great starter) and it's pretty good for a few landscape photos as well. The stabilization isn't great unless you have IBS, but it's still a good lens for video if you have a gimbal/tripod...or you aren't moving that much I suppose. I'd highly recommend this lens to anyone looking at it!! ... show more

  • Aaaaaaaaamazing!
The sigma lens has a indisputable reputation! The build is sturdy, the images are super sharp and the bokeh is unmatched! Very short focus distance ( .8 ft.) allows you too take close up crystal clear shots while you can also take a step back and capture more of the scene! Just a great all around photo lens. The autofocus is very responsive and creates a very interesting perspective while taking videos! ... show more

  • Sigma 4 lyfe
I use this for video on my Sony A6000 and its light years better than most of my Sony primes. Sigma has made it possible to have quality glass and autofocus at a smaller price tag. Also, its way better looking than the ugly Sony lens.

  • Great lens, not mechanical focussing ring
Sharp, fast lens, really happy with it. One detail: manual focussing-by-wire (not mechanical) is working great, but you lose the focus when the camera is turned off: then lens resets to infinity when the camera is turned on again. Keep that in mind if you are working with a tripod and manual focus ... ... show more

  • Great Value Lens
I Love this lens. I use it with my Sony alpha 6000 and it does way better than the original lens or the Neewer manual focus lens I had before it. Just be careful the f.1.4 is so low that it is very sensitive to depth of field. You need to be careful what part of the image you're setting the auto focus on - in a portrait at f.1.4 you can have the person's nose in sharp focus but the ears already blurred. But the lens is great. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • I love this. Sharp as hell
I love this lens so much. One thing that bothers me sometimes is the autofocus. I say roughly 80% its fine but sometimes it either misses focus completely or just wont seem to "grab it". Also purple fringing is pretty bad in bright light but I dont rlly care since Im just a hobbyist. If you're thinking about this lens, get it. You will not regret it. Unless autofocus, stabilization, and video are your priorities, probably go for the sony 35. ... show more

  • Good but not great
The sigma 30mm f1.4 is excellent on my sony a6400, with such a sharp image but i only write this review because it completely stopped focusing at all for a full day and it had me very frustrated (being from africa, malawi) i have no chance of returning it or getting it fixed. luckily its working again, but for how long though. i have only had it for about 3 weeks now. ... show more
