Description

Two state-of-the-art technologies packaged in one small device - The Dual Function Circuit Breaker combines GFCI and AFCI, protecting against both Arc Faults and Ground Faults. This, along with the new Self Test & Lockout feature, makes it the first in class in electrical safety for homeowners. The 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) now requires both Arc Fault and Ground Fault protection on kitchen and laundry circuits. Before the release of Dual Function Circuit Breakers, the only option to comply with this code was to pair an AFCI circuit breaker with a GFCI receptacle. The Dual Function Circuit breaker combines these two devices into one solution that provides both cost savings and less hassle in installation and maintenance. This is a win solution for everyone. A device that tests itself - Testing GFCIs and AFCIs on a monthly basis is a good idea that is sometimes forgotten. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) suggests that AFCI/GFCI devices be tested every 30 days after installation to ensure they are properly working. Now the new Self Test & Lockout feature enables the Dual Function Circuit Breaker to automatically and continuously test itself to ensure that it is working properly. If it is detected that the device has been compromised, the device trips itself and locks out the homeowner from resetting the device, reducing the possibility of the homeowner incorrectly assuming that the device was tripped to prevent a ground/arc fault. This effortless system guarantees that only the best protection is given to your home at all times.

  • Works like a Charm!
Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
Installed three of these dual functions 20 amp breakers to upgrade added protection for my home in addition to my 15 amp dual function protection. Installation was straightforward with no difficulty. Tested then upon installation, and they work as advertised - no fuss, no muss...

  • Great value!
Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
Price was about $10 less the what I was going to pay at a local store. Arrived a day early. Just as described. Needed to replace ours and this was an exact match to the one we replaced. Everything works perfectly!

  • Siemens Q120DF Dual (AFCI/GFCI)
Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
If you have a Siemens Load Center (Circuit Breaker Box), you need this. This breaker protects both against Arc Flash and Ground Fault. The Arc Flash protects again bad wiring/connections that may arc protecting the house. The Ground Fault protects circuit outlets and switches that are near water and protects the person. Better than having a GFCI outlet since this is in the Load Center panel and out of site. And no buttons to reset(possibly with wet hands). Your outlet can now be a standard looking outlet. In my house they originally wired in the ugly GFCI outlets for around the kitchen. I took them out and used this kind of breaker. Wife likes the new look and so do I. Plus, now I have dual protection by taking out the standard breaker that was in the Load Center. Yes, it took some time to change the bathroom and kitchen circuits, but I am now safer with having added this dual function with arc flash and ground fault protection . Additionally, there was a counter light switch and that didn't have any protections. I took out the standard breaker and put this dual function breaker on that circuit, too, since I was concerned my wife might flip the counter lights on or off with wet hands. I can't replace the love of my life. ... show more

  • Mostly good, needs work
Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
This breaker installs easily and works (too) well. Installed this to get protection on a branch circuit exclusively for power tools in my garage workshop. It serves well, except for the miter saw. Its motor brush arcing trips the AFCI. Would be nice if the breaker design could discriminate that arcing from the putatively more random arcing of an actual fault. I'll move this breaker to a different branch and install a GFCI only breaker on this branch. ... show more

  • Solves new AFCI and GFCI requirements
Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
Depending on where you live, the inspector can be very strict on what types of outlets that must be installed on remodel work. I had several outlets that the inspector said needed AFCI protection and because they were within 6 feet of a sink also needed GFCI protection. He recommended using an AFCI breaker then adding tamper proof GFCI outlets. This setup can get expensive real quick. Fortunately I found these dual purpose breakers that provide both AFCI and GFCI protection on the entire circuit making installation easier and cheaper than the inspectors recommendation. I have installed several of these and have had no nuisance tripping issues so far. I did not install one on the fridge circuit as I've heard too many horror stories of unnoticed tripping and the food going bad. No problems on the microwave, computers and their UPS back ups, vacuum, or anything I have plugged in so far. The one issue I had was no fault of the breaker. It requires the neutral of the circuit to be screwed into the breaker itself. On two circuits the neutral was too short and couldn't reach the breaker and I did not wish to rearrange the breakers to get them closer. I found "Spliceline Orange (20pcs)" by Ideal here on Amazon that solved the issue. Simply strip about half an inch on the neutral extension wire and push into the connector. They are UL listed for use inside panels and electrical boxes. If I find anything that does trip these breakers, I will update my review. ... show more

  • I heard the gfci/ afci combo breakers stop the afci breaker trips.
Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
So I had heard that the afci tripping non stop was an issue with the breakers and that even walkie talkies are tripping them. This one job was insane with false trips. Checked everything. Heard from another electrician the AFCI/GFCI breaker combo wasn't having the issues. Swapped one in and solved the issue. BUT, I also noted the one I took out was really easy to remove. Had almost no friction. The new one went in with force. I began to wonder if the arc was where the breaker was seating into the panel and not the afci/gfci combo as much as a badly made afci breaker ... show more

  • Fits correctly in Crouse-Hinds panel and adds additional protection in kitchen area
Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
Replace older Crouse-Hinds circuit breakers with Siemens Q120DF 20-amp dual function breakers in the kitchen area. Everything fit perfectly but was somewhat difficult finding and rerouting the white return wire to go through the breaker pigtail. After installed, found that a toaster oven tripped the arc fault detector every time it was turned on. Upon inspection discovered that the thermal contact within the oven was burned through and was sparking when activated causing the breaker to trip. Replace the faulty toaster oven with a new one and it no longer trips the breaker. Great to have this additional protection with these new breakers! ... show more
