My shipping container is mostly in direct sunlight the entire day. I have an exhaust fan in the container but i felt like it needed a little more relief, so i got these vents! The vents are a sturdy metal and definitely let in enough air so the fan can work more effectively. Installation would have been easier if a template was provided. I recently worked with my amateur radio club to upgrade a register site into a 20' shipping container. It sits up on a hill completely exposed to sun and weather 24/7. It can get really hot in there when it's over 100° ambient! These were relatively easy to install by cutting a rectangle hole in the container (or several large round holes would work) and screwing the aluminum louvers in place over the stainless screen. It can really help vent the hot air out of the container. They include stainless nuts and bolts, but it was easier to use stainless self tapping screws. ... show more

I do not love these vents enough to write a long review. So let me tell you what I think the Good and the Bad is. The Good: - Solid metal construction. - Decent size. The Bad: - Not as much VENT area as needed. The actual venting area is reduced about 60% because of the angle/size of the outer little "Awnings" that keep the rain out. - No instructions/Template. - Cost... Normally I don't consider cost at all in my reviews as prices change and people have different budgets. But when I received these they were over $50 for the pair, and now they are down to $40, and I still think that is too high for what they are. My opinion. I thought I wanted metal because it would be better and stronger than plastic, but then I noticed that the vents that CAME on my container are plastic, and have clearly held up fine. So based on cost I would look for plastic next time. Lastly, they a supposed to have bolts and nuts to install them with, but that will require a second person on the inside to help. We installed them with Rivets so it could be done from one side. So all told, they are not terrible, but not 5 stars either. I would not buy more unless they were $20 or less, or they let a lot more air through. ... show more
