I was hesitant to buy because there weren't any reviews, but I bought them anyways, mainly because they are vegan made brushes with an organic touch of bamboo handles. I was like a child during Christmas when I opened the package... these brushes are beautiful. For the price you pay for these, I was expecting something much less. The brushes are so soft and hold just the perfect amount of make-up to apply smoothly and evenly. I use powder makeup and these work perfectly with the powder foundation. I will definitely recommend these to my friends and buy more Shany products now that I know they produce great quality cruelty-free products. To compare, I had my grandmothers shiseido brushes. It didn't come with an eyebrow brush or eye shadow brush, and the powder brush didn't hold enough of my powder foundation. Not to mention they were 5 times the price of these. ...Keep these awesome vegan products coming! :) ***UPDATE: Just wanted to say that I have now been using these brushes everyday for the past 6 months now and not one has started to shed. They are still as soft as they came and the bamboo is holding up perfectly as well. I use these for travel as well, since it comes with a perfect roll up pouch for them. Not sure what the fuss is about... The brushes are actually really nice quality. The size makes them perfect for travel or everyday use. Don't be freaked out by the word "synthetic" -- we all know what those cheap-quality "bristles" feel like (the ones that practically leave claw marks across your blushes and eyeshadows then feel about as smooth as a mustache as you rake them across your skin). These are NOT those. Instead, these are soft (but not too soft) and smooth "hairs" -- not bristles. I'll update my review if I learn otherwise but these brushes give every indication that for a mere mortal/normal makeup user they'll last a long, long time (i.e. there's no need to worry about mileage as if you're a professional makeup artist...). Here's the low down: A) the brushes don't smell, B) I would have NEVER had cause to sniff the case if I hadn't read the other reviews claiming its scent was horrifying but...if I had to describe it, it smells exactly like anything else you would order online that's new (think new shoes, for example). C) As for "airing out" the case to get rid of the smell, I'd actually recommend putting the case inside a ziplock bag filled with 2 cups of dry, uncooked rice for 4-6 hours before...I'M KIDDING. By the time I finished taking pictures for you guys, the case smelled exactly like a pair of new shoes that had sat out of the box for EXACTLY as long as the case had sat out of its box while I photographed it. D) Regarding the quality/durability of the case: do I think it'll be around for me to clutch lovingly as I lie on my deathbed? NO. But if that's your expectation, you've probably sniffed a few too many newly-unwrapped products... ... show more

I was surprised by the quality of these brushes! They are soft but still carry product and blend well. I haven’t noticed any shedding or smell. The only thing I really dislike is the case. It is hard to get them out and bends the bristles back. I wish the top flap and front flap opened!

Let us give credit where credit is due. This set of brushes is great! The handles are made out of bamboo, and have a good sturdy weight. The brush bristles are firm, but soft, they work as expected and then better. I received the package two days after ordering with prime, and i was pleased. Very pleased. These brush set is very well made, they are beautiful and perform well. I love the wrapping, dont know what else to say, but wow!,, before deciding on this set, I visited the major make up store, .......hora, to check out the brushes and found them overpriced for the quality. I'm so happy with this purchase, specially the price. One tiny thing, theres a smell to the fabric wrapping, not a deal breaker. The bruhes are well wrapped and packaged, I plan to look into more Shany cosmetic products. I like what i see. I definetely recommend this brush set, and i would buy again 100%. ... show more

I was skeptical of these brushes when I bought them because I have spent 100's of dollars on cosmetic brushes. I read the reviews of these brushes and purchased based on those reviews. I am pleasantly surprised. PROS: 1. They are well crafted and very pretty 2. they feel like silk on the skin 3. They are a great price 4. The eyeshadow brushes are stiff yet soft, Yeah I know, weird right? but its true I was able to sculpt the shadow exactly as I wanted it. 5. The blush brush achieved a high clean line. 6. Love the linen wrap up they come in CONS: ? none yet UPDATE: I've been using the brushes for 4 months now....no bristles have fallen out yet! Really great product...I highly recommend. Update November 2013: Brushes are still intact, no bristle have fallen out. My mom tried them when visiting and ordered hers immediately when she got back home! ... show more
