This machine is small and comes pre-threaded with one spool of white thread. I would recommend buying pins separately, as I wanted to tighten a couple of dresses that were too loose for me. I had never used a sewing machine before, so I spent some time on YouTube figuring out how to use it. I would recommend having a friend help you if you don't have familiarity. However, for the price, it certainly does the job. I'm impressed by how well it holds up given its size and the kind of 'toy-like' appearance; you can certainly do all the basics you need for sewing (e.g., hemming, tightening loose clothing) with this machine. Bought this and for the amount I spend on tailoring my pants, it has already paid for itself. The only thing that I was bummed about is that it does not have a way to thread the spools with the machine, or reverse. It is just a basic one way hem. I bought this sewing machine to learn on. I feel like it’s a great value for someone just starting out. I’m not the greatest seamstress but I’m excited to learn on this machine. Plus I love that it is very compact. I have a tiny apartment so this will be easy to store. Only thing is I wish the foot pedal cord was longer. I have a high table so it will be hard to us this. I bought it to make sail clothing for ship models and for me it was important to receive straight seam. I've received them very straight and nice! First time sewing machine owner, I found this machine straightforward and easy to use. After reading through the manual I successfully re-hemmed two pairs of pants without much difficulty. I was surprised by how solidly this machine is built. From the outside its a nice durable plastic and internally there is a metal casting which forms the frame and it feels solid.
