I got this more for the needles than the other items that came along in the kit. The needles are standard size sewing machine needles that will fit most home sewing machines. They are "universal" needles, which means the tip is not as pointy as regular needles, but is less rounded than a ball point needle. I've found that universal needles work well for about 80% of my fabrics, so getting a bunch of them was a good deal. The package comes with 10 needles of each common size. The needles are straight, don't have any burrs and work as well as an other needles I've used in the past. They are packaged in little plastic bags, so once the bag has been opened you will need to find a way to ensure the rest don't fall out of the package. The other items in the package are good spare items for the sewing room since I'm always misplacing my seam ripper and snips. The measuring tape is handy to have around and this one has inches on one side and cm on the other. The needle threader looks slightly stouter than many other needle threaders I've had. ... show more

I have a Juki TL 2010, which does use the standard flat back needle like these. The array of different sized needles is why I got this kit – and that it has needles in the 16-18 size. The kit itself has a ton of useful stuff, but in small quantities. The thread nippers are good but don’t have a safety to keep them closed. The bobbins are not for a Juki – but maybe they will work for yours. They look like Bernina bobbins to me. You get a small number of purple headed pins, a seam ripper (who couldn’t use another of those?), a soft plastic measuring tape with centimeters and inches, and a hand threader as well as the variety of sewing machine needles. My qualm with this set is that the part of the needle at the top where you would insert it into the machine is thinner than my Organ or Schmetz needles, so much in fact that it didn’t matter to my machine which way it was inserted. The first time it went in wrong. The second time I seated it correctly and it did sew fine and did not break. This was using the 16 needle in two layers of vinyl. I personally would stick with other brands, but this is a good kit to try out different sized needles before committing to a bulk purchase. ... show more

The needles are fine. Lots of sizes, and you don't see 9/65's that often, so that's a plus. The thread snipper is good, and they're semi-disposable anyway, in my opinion. Once they're no longer sharp, there's nothing you can do but get another one, and so it's great to have another one ready to go. The pins are very average, and I wouldn't use them on any fine fabrics. The bobbins are regular Class 15, so if that's what your machine uses, these are good. Seam ripper and tape measure are both handy and nice. This would be a nice, useful gift for anyone who sews, especially someone new to the craft, who doesn't realize you need to change your needle with each project for best results. Exactly as described. The pieces are durable. The included storage case is durable enough and closes with a very satisfying click that's going to keep everything inside and intact - this would make a great little kit to take with you if you happen to take your sewing machine to other locations. (I like to take my machine and a project to my niece's and we have sewing weekends.) Of course, I'd add a few more pin needles and have to bring my thread, etc., box also. I have not tested the needles yet, but will within the next couple of weeks; if there is a problem with breakage or anything else, I'll update this review. I struggle with deciding how exactly to review this product. It is exactly as described, with all the items neatly included, sharps individually wrapped, and the needles helpfully labeled. I decided to take off one star to indicate that all these items are purely functional, rather than high-quality. The scissors are small, handy, and sharp -- but the handles are hollow and they slightly squeak. The pins (very few of them -- back up emergency supply, I would say) have messily painted heads. The set will do what it is designed to do, and likely last a while, but it is not suitable as a meaningful gift. ... show more

This set come in a great little plastic case for storage, so easy to keep track of everything. The bobbins don't fit my machine, but that's ok. The nippers are sturdy. The seam ripper is nice and sharp and took out some darning with ease. Everything is pretty well made and I am making a list of projects to use every needle type on. This is a handy little kit to carry in your sewing bag for when you are sewing away from home. There is a large selection of many different sizes of sewing machine needles. These needles fit my Husqvarna Viking Topaz 30 embroidery machine and my Brother CS7205 machine. The bobbins fit the Brother but not the Husqvarna. I ordered this set because I wanted to have the larger sized needles on hand. I have plenty of the two most common, but because I rarely use them I didn’t have any of the larger needles. Each set of sizes is packaged in separate little bags that are well marked with sizing information.
