I purchased these for working in my wood shop & working on the house but their design would definitely work in the event of a wildfire. I spent a lot of time comparing goggles in both quality and price point. I chose to buy this brand due to its shape, construction and the elastic band it uses. As soon as they were delivered to my house, I got them out and fit tested them with and without my glasses, over a baseball hats and over my old fire helmet (from my 34 year career in the California fire service). So far so good but time will tell. I've already used them while cutting and shaping wood on a table saw, miter saw and router table. They did exactly what I needed them to do and worked well in tandem with dust masks and respirators. No pair of goggles, regardless of cost, will do everything, block all smoke/dust and be fog-free. Most every pair of goggles I've owned needed some type of modification. A good anti-fog would be my first thought for these and maybe a protective cover when in storage. It would be great if Sellstrom offered replacement lenses on their page. It's inevitable that the original lens will get scratched or damaged in some way. While I could just buy another pair of goggles, it would be nice to have a couple extra replacement lenses on hand. I will revisit my review after some time using these goggles to give more insight into have they hold up, perform, etc. ... show more

I have been watching programs about the fires and the smoke related problems for seeing and breathing. My insurance company informed me that we were 50% likely to be in a wildfire. As such, I Purchased, these goggles for everyone in my family as they were designed for resisting smoke and irritation for our eyes. I also purchased quality air purifiers designed to eliminate smoke residue throughout my home. I feel better prepared. I was shopping for onion goggles and came across these goggles. I have had a problem cutting onions for the past 60 years and it's gotten worse with age and dry eyes. I tried swimming goggles but those didn't work and freezing the onions didn't help much either. I figured that if these goggles helped firefighters then surely they would protect against onions. It worked! I can now peel onions, quarter them, slice them in my food processor attachment and fry them without running out of the kitchen with my eyes tearing. I do make sure that I wash my hands thoroughly with soap after cutting onions. My eyeglasses fit inside the goggles as long as I put the glasses inside first.
