  • Light, beautiful, high end quality and appearance, will never go back to glass
The media could not be loaded. I've had this tank for 1.5 years now. I absolutely love it. You have to be comfortable in the differences in care and maintenance required with acrylics vs glass but I'd never get a glass tank again. The fused top with separate openings creates some limitations but I rarely feel annoyed by it. My tank is a freshwater set up with an AquaClear 110 filter and I have dwarf gouramis, full sized gouramis, ctenopomas (leaf fish), mollies, and dwarf suckermouth catfish. I purchased a 60-90 gallon stand from petsmart (online only style) and it's worked well. The acrylic is beautiful, crystal clear, with perfect seams and rounded front edges. I did not use or install the hood or light that came with this, I had already bought a slim profile adjustable bracket multi-setting LED light and leave the top mostly open. I lose a lot to evaporation but I don't mind putting about 4 gallons of fresh treated water in every 10-14 days. I do 50% water changes with a gravel vacuum(Python with 20" tube) I bought on amazon once every month or 2. After the first 6 weeks my water has remained stable and as near perfect as I can get it with tap water that is pH 8.6 and high in nitrates (I used Seachem Prime and pH 7.5 products on tap water before it goes in, both also from amazon) I use the API full water testing kit weekly to bi-weekly. I was able to fit some very large decor in through the two main openings. It was tricky, but because the pieces weren't solid rectangles, I got things in somehow that are actually larger than the openings (see pics). I only use paper towels to clean the inside or outside of the tank. They work well for algae. I have no scratches anywhere on the tank 1.5 years in to ownership. My heater fit right through the heater opening (first had a Zacro 300W, switched to a Aqueon 150W). My thermometer was a smidge too big for the thermometer hole which is slightly annoying since the cord is more visible but I'm dealing with it. I have the tools to enlarge the hole but I've never gotten around to doing so. My filter is enormous and there's still plenty of room on both sides for the filter opening. Having a fixed top is annoying for netting/catching fish and gravel vacuuming, but I've learned to adapt and I've never not been able to accomplish what I need. This tank has been an absolute joy to own and enjoy. I will continue to get acrylic tanks and hope to eventually get some larger/taller versions one day and start a discus tank. This tank was incredibly light, well made, and I've had no bowing, scratches, discoloration, or any issues. ... show more

  • Acrylic scratches easily: Use only Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (Very Soft) to infrequently clean.
Acrylic scratches very easily: Use only Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (Very Soft) to infrequently clean. Don't use the ones with soap already in the sponge; or rinse very thoroughly before using. Beautiful designed tank, pleased with the purchase. Single bulb light is "ok"' but had to add additional lighting to grow plants. Slight distortion through convex front depending on viewing angle; but still adequate and the aesthetic design/shape still makes it worthwhile. ... show more

  • Updating my review of this aquarium.
After 3 years of ownership, I sadly have to update this review. I bought this tank and kept it atop 1/4" foam, which was on top of 3/4" plywood, on a stand built with laminated 2x4's for strength. Therefore, there is no warping or distortion of the base. Despite that, the joint between the bottom panel and the front panel has started crazing (microfracturing), and shows signs that it may begin to leak soon. The material of this tank is only about 1/4" thick, which in my opinion is too thin for this volume of water. The distortion/bowing of the top of the tank is pretty severe after only 3 years of use. I have now drained it and moved all of my fish to a temporary plastic Sterilite container while I make new arrangements for an aquarium. When I purchased this tank, it was about $265, which was just fine with me. I see it has now almost doubled in price. Yeah, yeah, supply chain and inflation, I get it. But for $750, I am having a custom 1/2" aquarium built by a local professional company. Not much price difference for a much stronger product. I have added new pictures, including the bowing of the now-drained aquarium's back, and the stress fracturing that's occurring across the entire front panel. I purchased a 10-gallon SeaClear acrylic tank and it is absolutely lovely. The thin material is not an issue for a volume of water that small. I would still recommend the 10-gallon variant, but not the 50. I'm sorry to say I no longer recommend this product. Below is my old review, because I feel it's unfair to just delete what I'd written before. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What a beautiful tank. This is my first foray into acrylic tanks, and I think I've been converted. I bought the 50-gallon, clear-back-panel model to replace an old 20 gallon glass tank. I went acrylic because the seals were starting to look sketchy on my glass tank and I don't want to worry about a blowout. The clarity is astounding, it makes a spectacular display. There is some bowing of the front panel, which can cause distortion when viewed from close and at an angle, but for 95% of viewing looks absolutely stunning. The distortion that IS present doesn't bother me, personally, but I felt should be noted. The top panel does bow and distort some (minor), and the filter box cutout is the most bowed part of the whole tank. I don't think it's enough to be a concern, but it is worth noting. Still, for value for the money, I think it's fantastic. The top panel features holes for airlines on both sides, a hole for the heater, and a wide slot for filters, giving you plenty of options. I use a canister filter on my setup and have plenty of room to slide a prefilter sponge through. Acrylic tanks are shockingly light. I can pick this 50 gallon up with one hand. It weighs maybe half of what my old glass 20 gallon weighed when empty. I believe acrylic tanks need to be supported evenly across the whole bottom, so be sure you have an appropriate stand with a flat top. The light that comes with this unit is an absolute joke, I threw it away. It's a single-tube fluorescent fixture with no included bulb. Seriously SeaClear, don't bother. Save the $4 and don't include it! The light comes with a clear plastic piece that CAN be used as a sort of "lid" for the 2 large open areas in the top, but I found it unnecessary and like to run open top anyway. Not that it matters for this review, but in my picture I am using a Current Satellite + Pro (because I apparently like to spend equal amounts on aquarium and lights), and a Hydor 150 canister. I do not use CO2. ... show more
