  • Got it to work with Linux - almost
Style: Controller Color: Steel Gray
An edit to the below words: It drops the bluetooth connection as soon as pairing mode (on the game pad side) ends, so not quite useful yet. Hopefully sooner than later. Some relevant information may include: OpenSuse Tumbleweed kernel 5.19.2-1.4 xpadneo-kmp-default 1638568915.cf392a7_k5.19.2_1-15.72 bluez 5.65-1.2 steam 1.0.0.75-1.2 Xpadneo only works with a wireless connection. I can't get it to reconnect, but if I delete it from my list of connected items and make a new connection, then Steam recognizes it as a connected controller. A bit of a hassle, but I'm playing Valheim on a laptop running my own server and with about 37 mods, so I've got some startup time to kill. So far as the controller itself goes, I like it. It works and works. It's less finicky than some previous scuf controllers, and I like the implementation of the switches on the bottom so that they don't snag on anything. I like having the instant trigger switches. Tuning the triggers is useful, but just having the switches covers the vast majority of use. My battery compartment cover has gone missing, so that's a spot for a little improvement. Perhaps a switch like the instant trigger switches to secure it would help, particularly, if the separate cover latch made the experience of installing the battery compartment cover like that of one of those old fashioned car doors that close all the way with a secure sounding click and almost no force. ... show more

  • It works
Style: Controller Color: Steel Gray
Ive been with scuff off nd on since Ops 2 on the 360...it lasted for yeaarrss. Then the elites came out. Lasted about a yr. The elite 2 was wayyyy better. I got 2 yrs there. This scuf I got after my elite 2 started acting weird. The scuf is comfortable enough. I like the soft touch top. But I cant stand the trigger stops. It makes my trigger fingers ache a bit. The elite felt alot more comfortable. The paddles are weird but I easily adjusted honestly. Likely bc i only use the A nd B. ... show more

  • Hands down the best controller I have ever owned!
Style: Controller Color: Steel Gray
After my Xbox elite controller became to unbearable to use any longer I decided to get the scuff controller having heard most people that spoke about it give it good reviews. This one did not disappoint, the controller is super light and the material is super grippy, not to mention I can play for hours and the controller doesn’t heat up causing my hands to sweat and lose grip, the paddles are very comfortable and swapping plates and thumb sticks is super easy 10/10 I would buy this controller 100 times over! ... show more

  • Paddles are a Big Let Down
Style: Controller Color: Steel Gray
To begin, I’m an extremely competitive individual. I might put myself through unnecessary stress, but I’ll do whatever needed to ensure peak performance and that includes upgrading my controller. I have played very many competitive games in the past, but I currently play Rocket League the most. For those not familiar with Rocket League, it’s a very difficult, competitive game when you get higher level. I’m currently ranked Champ 2 in 3v3, which only the top 3% of the player base is currently at. I was able to achieve that rank in less than 1k hours, whereas it takes many others 2k or more, and I thank my Elite Series 2 controller for that. In this review, I’ll talk about the Elite Series 2 since most of those wanting the Scuf are deciding between these two controllers, or are wanting to switch from the Series 2. I’ll then go over pros and cons of the Scuf. My Elite Series 2 leveled up my gameplay beyond belief and not just in Rocket League, but also in shooters. I’d map all the buttons that required me to take my finger off of the right thumb stick (jump, reload, change weapon, crouch) to the paddles. This allowed me to approach my gameplay in ways I couldn’t have before. In racing games like Forza, I shift manually, so I map the right paddle to upshift, and the left paddle to downshift. This would make everything so much more engaging and I could control my car the way I wanted to. However, although the Series 2 made gaming that much better, the quality control must have been an after, after, thought. I had 4 of them, all of which experienced an issue with stick drift. My fourth one began not to register the bottom left paddle in addition to stick drift. Microsoft even recognized the Series 2 to be so much of an issue, they extended the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. My fourth one was a warranty replacement, and I called it quits after that. This time around, I decided to try something new. I couldn’t get used to going back to a non-pro controller, so I thought instead of going Elite Series 2 again, why not try Scuf. So, $230 later, here I am. Scuf Pros: - Great build quality overall. The texture feels nicely finished. Buttons feel nice to press and it’s beautiful to look at with the dark gray. - It’s modeled after the Series X controller as opposed to previous gen unlike the Elite Series 2. It fits like a Series X controller in your hands which is how I wish the Elite Series 2 would fit (this will likely be changed with the Series 3) - The magnetic removable face plate is a nice touch that allows for easy customization without the need for tools - No removable paddles is a huge plus since I don’t have to worry about losing them - This is a bit of a pro and con, but the instant-triggers. They are leaps and bounds better than Microsoft’s current offering. The clicks feel like you’re clicking on a high-end mouse, however, I found it very hard to switch from instant trigger to “regular” trigger. Unless you want to rip the tips of your fingers off, you’re going to have to use your fingernail. - Button mapping is easy, and the Mic mute button is a nice to have and no stick drift as of yet Cons: My main gripe, and just about my only con (besides the trigger switch), are the paddles. - Although they feel nice and feel like they’ll last a long time, they are awkward to use compared to the Elite Series 2 - When you place your hands on the controller, your middle fingers are supposed to rest in between the two buttons on each side. To click the outward facing buttons, you press down, however, to activate the inward facing buttons, you have to “pull up” which just doesn’t feel right. Not once in my many many years of gaming have I ever had to “pull” to click anything, so you’re essentially going to have to build that muscle memory. - Because of the paddle positioning, if you have an average hand size, you will have to firmly grip the controller just to keep your middle fingers comfortably on the paddles. This then causes your index fingers to awkwardly hang over the triggers which gets very uncomfortable. I constantly found myself having to readjust my grip and that is not something I was fond of to say the least. - I tried to play with my ring fingers on the outward facing paddles, and the tip of my middle fingers on the inward buttons like I would with my Elite Series 2. The issue with that is that the buttons are too small for that kind of position, and the inward buttons are pointed, so the tip of my middle fingers didn’t appreciate that. The controller is definitely not meant to be gripped that way. That said, I cannot get used to this controller. I love literally everything else about it, however, it does not allow for a comfortable, natural gaming session. In every game I played, I could not get used to the awkward paddle position. If they had placed the buttons one on top of the other, as opposed to side by side, and made the buttons like a half inch longer, this thing would be the king of pro controllers, however, that is not the case. The Elite Series 2 paddle placement is superior in every way imaginable. If you don’t care for paddles, then the Scuf is the better controller. If you want a pro-controller for paddles, which is the only reason why I got one, then either get an Elite Series 2 and hope you don’t experience quality issues, or wait for the Elite Series 3. Personally, I will be returning the Scuf and wait for the Series 3. ... show more

  • I like the controller
Style: Controller Color: Steel Gray
There are people who remove the faceplate and say that the joystick gets stuck, that's normal, that's what the faceplate is for and it rings us around the joystick and others who buy the Xbox thomstick and want to put it on the ps4 controller, the control is very well the only thing that for what it costs should bring a storage case and an additional dpad ... show more

  • For the price I would expect better quality
Style: Controller Color: Steel Gray
While I do like the design of the controller and the paddles, I think that for the price, there are ultimately better options. I have had the Elite xbox controller as well as the Razer wolverine and they were fine for a few years. This controller is already having more issues than national geographic. the stick drift is the worse out of anything I have ever had and of course starts doing it as soon as it is out of warranty. I know most controllers get it over time but 6 months in. for this price? I expect more from it. And yes, I have done much to fix it. sometimes it works for a bit but then goes back and often times worse. I may just be unlucky but never the less it's kind of a let down to spend over $200 for something that becomes often unusable after 6 months. ... show more
